as was proven by

this case
yesterday.

obviously most people aren't plotting to commit such horrific crimes but it just shows how even posting "anonomously" doesn't mean you can't be found.

Surely the only people who would mind are the ones who are posting things they shouldn't

they had a police spokesman on bbc talking about this the other day, and he said the reason why it was taken so seriously was because names/places etc in the "fantacy" actually existed. The two girls in question were real, the route they took home from school was real, the place where the planned attack was to take place was real - it was far deeper than just a fantacy.

After all it would be one thing me saying "could do with a bit of spare cash, let's rob a bank", that would just be talk, but if I went as far as to say "the xxx bank have a collection at 4:00 every afternoon. It's the same men who do the collection because I've seen them. so what I think we should do is hide behind the red bin by the orange door, and then when the blue van pulls up and man y comes out of the bank we jump them and grab the money".

The first senario is just a fantacy "I need a bit of cash let's rob a bank" no details or anything, more wishful thinking than anything else, but the second is more of a conspiracy, names/details/plans for an actual event. And as it's written down it is actual evidence.

There is a line drawn obv. Fantasising about something is markedly different to actually planning something. I think it would be abundantly clear the difference between the two.

Agree that if someone wants to find out about you they can, but, as HT said - you can make it incredibly difficult for someone to do so if you know how. I am well aware that I am pretty traceable if someone really wants to find me on the internet.

I think the whole matter was made quite easy to investigate by one of them 'turning' the other two in. The Police new exactly where to look.
