Two UK MP's openly still support Trump - one is IDS. They need to denounce him

After Trumps latest scary speech in which he insinuated that Clinton Could be stopped by the second amendment why do two of our MP's still support him? This is after he has insulted immigrants, women, Muslims and the disabled

One is Iain Duncan Smith, the other is Michael Fabricant. What will it take for these Members of our Parliament to finally condemn Trump? How can they continue to support a dangerous vile man to become President of the US?

How do we know they support him? What have they said/done?

I haven't read or heard of any MPs openly supporting him, what have they said & where is it reported?

In a free society you can support who the hell you like. If we squash free choice then we run the risk of becoming more like North Korea or Burma I'd rather people have the choice to support Trump however heinous he is than live in a society like the aforementioned

I've found this quote from Michael fabricant. I don't really think it's a ringing endorsement. More an example of hope over expectation:

I don't agree with much if anything of what he has said up to now, but if he were elected president - I think it's unlikely - but if he were elected president, I don't think that it would necessarily mean that he would be a bad president at all.

IDS quoted someone else saying Dinald Trump was a "very decent man"

He also quoted US House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, saying The Donald is a "very decent man. He said he'd be better [than Hilary clinton]

Again, it's hardly a ringing endorsement

I think we have to remember that if DT becomes president (hopefully unlikely), we can't just fuck him off. We actually have to work with him - however much of a goon he is.

I don't think as it is acceptable to support him. If members of his own party can denounce him why can't they?

And neither mp is ever likely to be working with him in a professional capacity - so they do not need to support him. If Hollande can show is contempt I think they can remove their support especially now

I would hardly say they have supported him . I'm no fan of IDS but all he has done is quite someone else

When I say we need to work with DT, I mean our government/parliament with the US and DT's/US's representatives. It's therefore relatively normal to avoid saying the putative president is a massive plonker. I actually think Hollande was quite misguided in his approach

DT is a massive windbag who is not president yet. No one in the US who cites for him is going to take the slightest notice of anything Presidebt Hollande says - it just fires them up even more To vote for DT. The best thing to do is ignore him

Even if I thought an MP stating something anodyne about a leadership candidate from another country needed some form of action from me, I would put it around 2,000th on my to do list.

Wikipedia's source for stating IDS supports Trump is a report in the Daily Mirror based on comments he made in an interview. The online version of the report includes video of the interview. The clip starts with him quoting Paul Ryan, although the context is removed. Listening to the full interview the question at the time was around why people should back Brexit when both Putin and Trump were for it. IDS' comment "he's a very decent man" appears to refer to Ryan, not Trump, although it is difficult to be certain as someone else was cutting across IDS. It seems to me that he was trying to point out that Trump was not the only US politician who came out for Brexit. The nearest he got to a comment on Trump was to say that, if he had a vote in the US election, he wouldn't be voting for Clinton. Alex Salmond, who was also being interviewed, tried to argue this meant IDS was supporting Trump which IDS specifically denied.

I listened to the interview with an open mind. My view is that the Mirror has misreported the interview. Even if one accepts the Mirror's version of the interview it hardly constitutes a ringing endorsement of Trump.

Credibility of all politicians should always be looked at. No one on this thread actually knows if they gave Trump the nod or not to include them

This is not 'another country' this is the leading country of the western world. With a candidate where members of his own party and 50 GOP security experts have come out against him calling him dangerous and a threat to the USA and the world. A little bit more important that 2000 on the list especially as they are back benchers and it is the Summer recess.

This is not Trump's wiki. It is Wikipedia. Anyone can edit it. People are being added to and removed from this list constantly. Someone's name appearing on this list simply means a Wikipedia editor found something online that suggested the person endorsed Trump in some way and no other editor has disputed their inclusion. It definitely does not mean the people listed have in any way agreed to their listing. That simply isn't how Wikipedia works. And it certainly is not the case that these people gave the nod to Trump and his campaign added them to Wikipedia. If a significant number of edits to this page were coming from IP addresses associated with the Trump campaign that would probably have been spotted and Wikipedia administrators would have taken steps to stop it.

Michael Fabricant was added to the list by an anonymous editor in the UK, probably near Reading. IDS was added by an anonymous editor in Lithuania. Took about 5 minutes searching the page history to find that.

Looking at the talk page for this Wikipedia page it appears there is some uncertainty as to what constitutes an endorsement and that a number of the alleged endorsements are disputed.

I would not regard this page as a reliable indicator of who has really endorsed Trump.

It would be utter stupidity for any senior British politician to 'denounce' the man who could be the next President of the USA.
