17 year old girl dies from FGM in Egypt

In a private hospital ffs! Why are they not shut down and prosecuted? The poor girl. I really don't understand how anyone can let this happen to their daughter. I have daughters and it just beggars belief.

What can we actually do to help end this barbaric practice?

The one thing you can do is keep talking about it as you did her. It's happening in this country (uk) but we still turn a blind eye to it because of PC and 'cultural sensertivities' And I have to say that the Gardian newspaper is the worst perpetrator of PC and defending 'cultural sensertivities' I don't know what your financial situation is but there are good charities who desperately need money for the good work they do to stamp out this evil practice.

Something like 90% of Egyptian women have had this done. :(
I will never look at Egyptians the same again.
Although the main Egyptian guy I know is very camp, gay & used to/still does? run a dog-grooming business. So probably not standard issue.

I'm going on an FGM course tomorrow, I work in education.
Not looking forward to it to be honest.
