Sorry if there is, I did look.

How utterly awful for everyone. And yet another tragedy illustrating the need to drastically overhaul US gun laws.

Not heard about this. How awful.

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/08/2015 19:06

It was just reported on the BBC news.

Two people being shot live on air by somebody who clearly should never have had access to a gun. Surely, surely this will be enough for things to change? Mind you that's what was thought about Sandy Hook and Columbine and all the other awful times when people have suffered.

If the shooting of several 6/7 year olds wasn't enough to prompt a rethink on the gun laws in America, then nothing will be.

Northernlurker · 26/08/2015 19:22

I don't know. This is absolutely horrible. With every other gun crime usually what's reported in terms of images is the aftermath. But in this case it appears the gunman filmed and released his own footage as well as the actual news footage which was being broadcast. It's absolutely awful and maybe, maybe it will be shocking enough.

I hope and pray you're right northern but in all honesty I'm not optimistic.

Not content with filming it, he put up some FB statuses afterwards as well. I'm not clear exactly what his motive was, the news reported that he'd been sacked from the same tv station I think.

No I'm not too optimistic either but surely something has to change and in electoral terms Obama has nothing to lose by going after the guns.

rollercoasterchicken · 26/08/2015 20:59

awful

noblegiraffe · 27/08/2015 17:28

There will be people claiming that the solution is for TV reporters and interviewees to carry guns.

JuanPotatoTwo · 28/08/2015 18:51

Yes, the gun fanatics probably would stoop to that argument wouldn't they?
