Joy Delhanty, professor of human genetics at University College London, said: ?I would support these views. I think it is morally wrong to strive to keep alive babies that are then going to suffer many months or years of very ill health.?

What do you think?

(it is a total head f**k for me)

I think the line- whatever it is- should be the same for disabled and non-disabled babies. (currently disabled can be terminated up until birth).
sitch- their use of the term "active euthanasia" made me think it was about more than withdrawing treatment (which was mentioned separately). Of course being the ST it's hard to know how accurate the report is.

"currently disabled can be terminated up until birth" - that is so wrong really.

paulaplumpbottom · 07/11/2006 22:26

When they are allowed to terminate up to birth for the disabled, what constitutes disabled? Are there guidelines?

Jimjams2 · 07/11/2006 22:28

"severely" disabled. But no further guidelines. There was a hoohah a while back after a late termination was carried out for cleft palate.

You'd think common sense would dictate a bit more than that.
