I just had to express my deep horror and shock at this most dreadful story in the news today. It happened in Colorado and the perpetrator was another woman. I do hope that the victim finds the strength to overcome this most brutal attack

Absolutely horrifying. I can't imagine what agony that woman must be experiencing losing her baby and having such terrible injuries but also the trauma that leads a person to commit a horrendous crime like that.

Very sad also that she potentially will not be prosecuted for crimes against the baby because the state does not recognise it as a living thing.

I am so shocked and appalled at this. I am praying for the poor victim.

Itchylegs · 20/03/2015 09:47

enough with the anti-abortion argument. The woman will be duly punished - foetal rights etc are besides the point (scoring).

It's utterly horrific but I've reported your OP to MN in the hope that they can edit the title. If I'd read something like that when I was pregnant I'd have been terribly upset.

I did not intend to offend by title. I didn't want to add any further detail in my post about this horrific attack so put as little as possible in title. I encourage MN to remove if any offense is caused

Itchy - I don't read that as anti abortion at all. Strange.

It's a terrible story and not something that bereaved mothers generally go round doing so there's got to be stuff going on there. Part of me thinks it's a shame she can't be prosecuted for murder (and at 7 months the baby would have viability) but part of me thinks she probably needs help.
Poor mother and baby though. :(

SusanSocks · 20/03/2015 09:54

that happened before didnt it? she was visiting her buying baby clothes

5madthings · 20/03/2015 10:00

Yes it's happened before.

How horrific. There are no words, that poor woman.

From reading reports the woman who did it has lost a child, he died aged 19mths and had been faking a pregnancy. I don't like to bring up mental health issues but it sounds like she was not a well woman.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 20/03/2015 10:05

Ah according to the BBC she has been charged with first degree murder and if the baby took a breath which her husband seems to have said it did, then they would prosecute for that too.

FernGullysWoollyPully · 20/03/2015 10:19

Itchy if you're referring to my comment, I wasn't trying to be inflammatory, it's just my opinion, no point scoring. I'm pro abortion. But when I read the report, it said she potentially wouldn't be charged because of state law, and I just thought it was sad. As Giddy said the baby would have been viable at 7 months.

I hadn't seen any updated reports. And although a tiny part of me pities the woman with all her past problems, I'm glad she's been charged, she clearly is very unstable.
