I was wondering about this case, not from a terror, child abduction, neglect point of view.

I was wondering what people think of this case, as a case of someone escaping with their child, from a domestic abuse situation?

She left the guy they wanted her to marry.

What were you wondering exactly? This case doesn't appear to be related to domestic abuse. She was threatened in Syria but it's not a DA situation.

A complete stranger abused her becuase she refused to marry him.

I'd call that Fanatical Religious Group Who Think women Deserve No Autonomy abuse rather than domestic abuse. Something that was a knowable risk factor in the somewhat murderous group she sought to be part of, with her tiny son in tow, against his father's wishes.

So it's a bit difficult to tease out a perspective that doesn't involve a terror, child abduction and neglect POV.

It's not domestic abuse. It's the result of a foolish person swallowing a line. What did she think was going to happen to her? She's lucky that things worked out the way they have.

What did she think she was going to be doing out there? She swallowed a line because she must have thought she would have some freedom of choice. Perhaps she believed she would get to choose a brave handsome young jihadi husband, who would treat her with the respect laid down in the Koran.

If you go and lie down with a rabid dog you must expect to get bitten.

That is not domestic abuse. That is making stupid choices.

It didn't say she lived with it or him? And the 'line she swallowed' wasn't a happy future with a man who loved her.... The line she swallowed was come to Syria and be part of Isis!!!

To get a big MN campaign going and in all the papers with you at the healm doing a sad face pic for all the media??? Calling it domestic abuse and the British police are wrong to arrest her.... Hey, let's sweep the fact she unlawfully took the child to Syria so she could learn how to become a terrorist, and then she nearly got the poor child killed! Hmm

I think that anyone who has followed the path of radicalisation needs to be extremely closely monitored for a lengthy period, if indeed allowed to return to this country at all.

I think that terrorists may lie about their circumstances and motivations in order to position themselves in places where they can launch attacks or facilitate those who will launch them.

I do not see any reason why a woman should be believed simply because of her sex; and I suspect a young man who had voluntarily left UK, trained with terrorists and then sought to return to UK (following unprovable circumstances leading to apparent volte face) would face a similar level of investigation.

I can't even begining to say how bloody annoyed I am that you would even link the 2 seperate things.
There is no connection between them and to link a stupid woman who willingly puts her self and baby into a hostile and dangerous situation is nothing, and I repeat NOTHING like being scared to even breath or move for fear of your life in your own home.
What is annoying me is this/you are alluding to woman happily going off to get the shit beaten out of them or murdered or their children hurt/damaged.
Ridiculous!

Dreaming, are you looking at this from the perspective that the victim is never to blame for the abuse?

This is a completely different situation. She chose to go and join an organisation that actively promotes rape and forced marriage, among all its other vile cruelties. She is responsible for the consequences to her actions.

I am sorry for upsetting others who were in a DV situation. I too was myself in that situation once.

I think it is right she was arrested for the three counts she was. I think there should be some time taken to separate her wrong doing, her being wronged and her removing her boy from the situation.
