Benefit claimants should have their driving licences revoked. Yep, it's another UKIP world beater of a comment.

Honestly, Nigel should be crying into his pint when half wits like this claim to represent his party.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/ukip/11361505/Ban-the-jobless-from-driving-to-ease-congestion-Ukip-candidate-says.html

To be fair, UKIP say this is not part of their policy but wouldn't be drawn when asked to say why they were allowing this man to say such idiotic things.

You would think between him writing the leaflet, it being proof read and being printed and delivered. Someone in office would have said "hey dude, what are you saying, this is a bit far fetched even for us".

Then again maybe they don't like him and are allowing him to hang himself.

Thankfully I have his home address, I am tempted to ask him which benefit claimants need their licences revoked. Jobseekers? Carers? Disabled people? Low paid workers getting tax credit top ups?

I doubt the idiot has thought this through.

No surprise that he used to be a Tory councillor. Idiot.

Blimey. And also he wants cyclists to ride on the pavements.

I wonder which of those is the more controversial stupid idea?

DreamingOfAHotDrink · 22/01/2015 15:33

Does he think through anything?

pointythings · 22/01/2015 22:33

He also apparently says we should outsource prisoners to other countries, who would apparently be delighted to take them. UKIP, the party that keeps on giving...

ErrolTheDragon · 23/01/2015 09:57

This comment from a labour MP is about right: 'Not so much a political party but a stag night out of control'

What percentage of UKIP candidates etc have been suspended now? Is this actually how you are supposed to work out what UKIP's policy is - by examination of all the things their candidates, councillors say which aren't ?

HeeHiles · 23/01/2015 10:03

“"We could likely remove six million cars from the roads if benefits claimants were not driving. Why do they have the privilege to spend the tax payers' hard earned money on a car, when those in work are struggling to keep their own car on the road? These people really could catch a bus."

I am tempted to ask him which benefit claimants need their licences revoked. Jobseekers? Carers? Disabled people? Low paid workers getting tax credit top ups?

If he thinks 6 million cars will come off the road then I think he must mean all these people......and the use of the words 'these people...' says it all Sad

WANKER!

HeeHiles · 23/01/2015 10:04

As a Tax Payer and a benefit claimer what should I do? Confused

dontcallnotdating · 23/01/2015 10:07

I'm both a tax payer and a benefit claimer. And er...if you take my licence I can't get to work, so I'll have to claim more benefitsHmm

ErrolTheDragon · 23/01/2015 14:55

You could probably get quite a lot of people out of road-clogging cars by making it safe to cycle - which means cycle paths and lanes, not sharing the pavement with pedestrians FFS. Oh, and by making sure that there actually are bus services for anyone to use if they prefer.

Where's claig?

claig · 23/01/2015 19:39

We have been discussing it on the other thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/in_the_news/2285402-UKIP-on-20-and-a-chicken-on-the-loose-in-the-House-Theyre-desperate

The general consensus seems to be that the hand of the Establishment may be at work in trying to make UKIP look stupid. We can't say for sure, but it would be par for the course.

It is a ridiculous statement by this guy, but voters need to keep their heads, ignore any possible Establishment tricks, keep calm and vote UKIP.

The consensus on the other thread seems to be that we are down, but we are certainly not out.

pointythings · 23/01/2015 21:19

That isn't the general consensus on that thread, is it though? You're the lone voice making these claims.

I hope you are well.

claig · 23/01/2015 21:51

I'm fine thanks. Hope you are OK too.

I'm having a laugh. I know it is not the general consensus. I was exaggerating. I should have just said that it was the informed opinion. Wink

ErrolTheDragon · 23/01/2015 22:07

The general consensus seems to be that the hand of the Establishment may be at work in trying to make UKIP look stupid.

Well, they seem to be remarkably effective at it. Grin

'Establishment tricks' - what, are they spiking UKIPs' drinks or something to make them burble idiocies?

claig · 23/01/2015 22:23

'Well, they seem to be remarkably effective at it.'

They are our best and brightest. They know all the tricks. They wrote the book.

'are they spiking UKIPs' drinks or something to make them burble idiocies?'

I wouldn't put it past them. Their whole future hangs on the outcome of the election. UKIP represent everything they are against. Some people in UKIP may well be receiving coded instructions to burble idiocies to show UKIP in a bad light. But fortunatelt, it ain't working. The public are immune to it. They understand the game. They are keeping their heads, remaining calm and steeling their resolve. They know what is at stake. The Establishment will try all the tricks, but it won't be a piece of cake, the citizens are wide awake.

meglet · 23/01/2015 22:30

I work but also claim tax credits, don't earn enough to pay tax. Would I be allowed to drive a reliant Robin?

LightningOnlyStrikesOnce · 24/01/2015 13:11

Oh come on, UKIP don't need anyone's help to make themselves sound stupid. Nor does Farage. Here he is on the NHS, just to make the point. voxpoliticalonline.com/2015/01/20/what-was-that-about-the-nhs-again-nigel/

LightningOnlyStrikesOnce · 24/01/2015 13:18

Who exactly are 'they'? Our 'Best and brightest'? Well surely if they are you'd want them back in power again wouldn't you?

Cameron best and brightest? Have you heard what he's been up to trying to get back doors put into IT encryption lately? Doesn't even have the sense to stay out of technical cmatters he doesn't understand. Which are extensive and not restricted to technical matters judging off his reactions to last year's floods.

On the matter of benefits and cars, one obvious question that doesn't seem to be mentioned yet is where are the buses?

LightningOnlyStrikesOnce · 24/01/2015 13:22

ok maybe I'll RTFT next time... there's some odd people over here so didn't pick up the joke Smile

ReallyTired · 26/01/2015 12:03

Interesting idea for incasterating prisoners overseas... erm...
You wonder where it would stop. Next they will send Granny with dementia to Thailand as nursing home costs are less!

www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-25438325

I suppose that UKIP would argue that nursing homes and prisons might be staffed by immigrants so that the inmates would not notice much difference other than the climate if they were sent abroad.

Morally repugnant even if it would save the taxpayer money.

Icimoi · 26/01/2015 18:36

claig, if it's informed opinion that this is all some establishment trick, what is the information in question and what is its source?
