MY SISTER IS ON THE TELLY !!! - London Marathon

My step-sister, Kate, is running the London Marathon today with her best friend, Charlie (Janine in Eastenders), in memory of Kate's sister Sarah who died last year of cancer ( some of you may remember, I posted about it).

They were interviewed at the start of the race and they are due to be interviewed again when they finish. As I said, Kate is running with Charlie. Keep your eyes peeled for a woman with very ginger hair in a blue t-shirt with 'KATE' on it and the Marie Curie logo, oh and not forgetting the token soap-star . They are due to finish at around 3pm ish. So keep your eyes peeled if you are watching

I saw her at the beginning - although there must be something wrong with my television as she looked blonde to me.

I have a friend who is running and she does have orange hair having dyed it to match her top, which is the orange Colon Cancer shirt. She survived treatment for colon cancer last year, so it's amazing that she is running this year.

Good for her, Frekle. Some of the participants stories are just amazing. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the orange colon lady !!! Pardon the expression , is she still tearing up the tarmac ?

Kate does try to dye her hair but the ginger-ness just comes fighting through . It does look quite strawberry blonde at the mo, admittedly.

I've had the tv on in the kitchen all morning, much to dh's disgust, but I haven't spotted anyone I know. Mind you that's not entirely surprising as there are over 32,000 runners

I saw her WSM - well done to anyone brave enough to do that!!

Codswallop · 18/04/2004 19:05

lydialemon · 18/04/2004 19:29

Just saw her! Got all excited and was shouting at DH She's not that ginger!

Well done to your sister WSM. And to all the other runners out there. My dad did it 4 times altogether and I know how hard it can be. Have huge respect for those that do it

She must've dyed her hair in the last couple of months (not seen her for 2 or 3). She is naturally very red haired, all 3 of my step-sisters are/were.

I couldn't believe the really old guy, in his 90's who ran the entire course and was FASTER than when he was in his 80's !!!!! He certainly didn't look that old (indian ehtnic with yellow/mustard turban).

I am astonished by some of the runners and what they have overcome health-wise, that's amazing enough but for them then to get up and run 26+ miles is astonishing. I am toying with the idea of doing it in the next few years. I think it'd take me longer than 12 months to train for it though.

Coddy, Kate and I are not that close, so direct soap gossip is pretty minimal. Although she does tell my Mum a few bits and bobs.
