Those beings in ISIS may have killed Alan Henning but how amazing that Alan, and his friends that went to Syria with him, felt enough love and compassion to travel thousands of miles to help complete strangers and put their lives at risk like that. All the other victims murdered by those monsters, journalists trying to get the truth out to the rest of the world, doing it because they believed it might help, aid workers trying to alleviate suffering because they believe someone has to, innocent people just trying to live their lives. Let's hope ISIS never destroy that.

I don't think they have any aims really. They are abusing the name of Islam and just using it as a cover for their fucked-up, psychopathic tendencies. I hope they get what's coming to them, in this life or the next. Or preferably both.

ajandjjmum - not an own goal at all. ISIL have no interest in getting aid to suffering Syrians or Iraqis. They want them to die. They see non ISIL members as apostates, kaffirs and infidels. Sunnis too. They are motivated by money, violence, publicity and nothing more. They do not give a shit how many people starve to death. They aren't starving because they control a whole load of oilfields and are selling the oil on the black market. They have millions of dollars from ransom demands. They are high on the smell of blood, like animals.

I honestly do fear these people....but that is exactly what they want.

Poor Alan Henning. His wife was on the news a couple of days ago and she was so sad and desperate. Poor, poor woman. I can't bear to think about his last hours and the pointlessness of it all.

I really really hope that this will cause the scales to drop from the eyes of the few who believe that these are 'fighters for islam' or jihadists or whatever the romanticised bollocks they spout.

Of all the hostages, I really thought there was hope for this man. The fuckers themselves even said that he had been found 'not guilty' of being a spy, so why murder him?

But then - their actions speak for them - murder, selling women as virgins in marketplaces one day then reselling them as 'damaged goods' the next day, slaughtering whole commuities... They are psychopaths plain and simple.

Apparently Peter Kassig, the hostage shown at the end of the Alan Henning murder video, has converted to Islam whilst in captivity. It won't save him.

This wasn't an execution, it was murder. Please could the op ask to have the thread title changed? It is disrespectful to the victims and their families to refer to this kind of thing as an execution.

The don't want conversion, they want total control. However I doubt that they are working as a coherent whole. Too many chiefs. They are more like gangsters than terrorists.

If someone in the UK was wandering about telling everyone that they had a hotline to god, and that god was telling them to kill everyone, well, I don't think anyone would be voting for him/her.

'Execution' would imply some sort of trial and some legality to the action. These people have no 'right' in law to murder (law of the land or law of god).

I think they are murdering these hostages in a deliberate attempt to draw in western governments into taking part in the war. Then they can blame the west for everything an justify their caliphate. It's particularly galling that some of the British jihadists joining ISIL came here as refugees fleeing religious persecution

It seems as if prisons are a pressure cooker for these mad ideas.

It also seems that there are some deeply disturbed, violent and plain old batshit people in the community, who are smart enough to sail close to the wind without actually doing/saying anything that can get them arrested/locked up.

Sadly this particular murder, more than most of the recent ones, will cause a backlash against people in our community who have absolutely nothing to do with these creatures. That in turn will cause angry young men and women to feel alienated and so the cycle goes around.

I hope that Alan will be remembered as a man whose life was taken by evil - but mostly as a man who did as his conscience bade him - to serve humanity and try to aleviate suffering in his fellow human beings, regardless of race or religion. These stupid wannabe jihadists/brides should try to emulate this man and serve humanity/god in this way.
