Since when has it been the police's job to investigate this kind of thing? Have they got too many officers or something?

I guess that if there's a complaint from the Child Protection Service then they have to address it.

Seems a bit like over-kill though ... the CPS don't come out of this looking very good.

But WTF were the child-protection service doing complaining to the police? Are they over-staffed? Or just mental?

oh the world's gone barking mad. You can't breathe in and out these days without offending someone.

I'm just quite incensed by this. If the police investigated it because they've got nothing better to do then I think we ought to know how they are collating their statistics so what they are prioritising, and if they investigated it because of the CPS, then I'd like to know what the fuck the CPS think they're there for.
