BBC Article . (forgive my artistic licence in describing Armagedon).

Click on the satellite images.

I know very little about this topic, but this does appear to be quite significant, although I appreciate the dataset might be small...

I watched on discvoery channel the othe night that a tree can absorb 200 gallons of water per day. So why dont we all plant trees (especially along the coasts) and that will absorb all the water. Im not a real scientist by the way.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 16/09/2006 22:33

at Liesel

Actually I think that would help an awful lot, but it would need to be loads of trees. Trees use CO2 also. Dunno how many. Probably oooh 700 zillion or thereabouts.

A big part of the problem is that we are releasing carbon which was trapped in rocks into the atmosphere at massive rates, thus throwing the system massively out of whack.

Frizbe · 16/09/2006 22:43

you know the swamp scene in 'never ending story' I'm kinda seeing that at the mo.....

LieselVonTrapp · 17/09/2006 09:14

Are you a scientist fillyjonk?

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 17/09/2006 09:21

no. not really. am doing science degree, thats all.

Aspirant scientist

I do know that I know bugger all though and am terrified that mb is going to come in and tell me off.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 17/09/2006 09:22

cos then I can say

"Trust me, I'm a Scientist"

Am looking forward to that

WideWebWitch · 17/09/2006 09:51

lol at trust me I'm a scientist and beinb scared of mb!
I also like the way we're using the technical term 'fucked' on this thread.
It all really scares me though.

Frizbe · 17/09/2006 20:05

yikes I have a BSc, does that make me a scientist? I thought I was a SAHM....

hub2dee · 17/09/2006 20:12

Does my BA make me an artiste then ? Kewl. LOL.

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 17/09/2006 21:01

Not hub, he might crash the plane.

youknowyouloveitCOD · 17/09/2006 21:02

FillyjonktheBananaEater · 17/09/2006 21:04

well you'll be alright, Cod.

I'm fairly sure Fillyjonks can;t swim

hub2dee · 17/09/2006 21:09

Actually, from what the Scientists are posting, Cod, we might all die cold and anaemic. Pale pasty legs and no tan lines in the bikini area to enjoy. LOL.
