Just seen on the news that any bottles taken on flights will have to be tasted. Apart from 'yuk' at drining formula what possible harm could you do with a bottle of formula?!!

explosive liquid

TutterOtsky · 10/08/2006 13:08

apparently they're looking for liquid explosives

PiccadillyCircus · 10/08/2006 13:09

I think the concern was that flammable liquids were going to be used to create explosions and this could happen with baby milk.

it is normal though this isn't it, last time we flew was about 5 years ago and dh had to taste his whiskey masquarading as apple juice in a bottle

FrannyandZooey · 10/08/2006 13:11

I always thought it could be like acid or something and you could throw it in the cabin staff's faces to disable them

Did I watch too many films?

LucyJones · 10/08/2006 13:12

thanks guys, knew I could count on you for a quick answer!!

oliveoil · 10/08/2006 13:15

One thing a friend said to me today about this is 'why would you have baby milk if you didn't have a baby with you' which would suggest that any suicide bomber would also have a baby with them as a kind of disguise. Too horrible for words IMO.

tiredemma · 10/08/2006 13:53

its any liquid not just baby milk- the reason someone would have to taste baby milk is because this is the only liquid that they are going to allow on the planes, any other liquid is not allowed on.

wannaBe1974 · 10/08/2006 14:23

the suggestion on 5 live is that the plan was to apparently have the explosive in fizzy drink bottles.

Furball · 10/08/2006 14:40

But how much do you have to taste? a mouthful? half the bottle? If it's just a mouthful, it's probably not going to do the person who drank it that much harm as they could dilute it more or less immediately with water. If it's half the bottle - what will baby drink as you've just drunk it! Also once opened and tasted surely the milk is then deemed not sterile anymore. question, question!

Very good point Furball. I guess the best thing to do would be take an unopened carton of formula with a sterilised empty bottle.
