Daren't do a link to her article in today's Guardian G2, but it's a damn sight more critical of u-know-who than anyone has ever been on here!

OP posts:
Tommy · 10/08/2006 14:15

agree bibliophile.
I'nm sure at least one of those contributors is a MNer!

MarscusGarvey · 10/08/2006 14:23

at least 3 honey.

morningpaper · 10/08/2006 14:25

I thought they ALL were

MarscusGarvey · 10/08/2006 14:26

MP... didn't see anyone named rockets though! lol

Tommy · 10/08/2006 17:03

great

StrapsBabiesToRockets · 10/08/2006 17:17

Is this a really tasteless name change?

StrapsBabiesToRockets · 10/08/2006 17:18

I'd have gone for RocketsToLebanon but, in view of current circs, that was TOO far......

morningpaper · 10/08/2006 17:22

That's not ME by the way

StrapsBabiesToRockets · 10/08/2006 17:38

No, of course it's not YOU Morningpaper. Nobody Straps babies to rockets and fires them to Lebanon, do they?

SaintGeorge · 10/08/2006 17:42

Actually I do think it is tasteless.

And trouble causing.

foxinsocks · 10/08/2006 17:52

I think people have to be careful not to lose sight of why this all happened in the first place. I found her books quite useful (esp the weaning part which was really handy with allergic dd and at the time, 6 yrs ago, there wasn't that much else out there for allergy babes). And although I didn't do the routine stuff from newborn, I found it a lifesaver when I went back to work and had to get sleep (and dd!).

That said, I don't agree with what she's doing to mumsnet but this shouldn't become a war against her methods because that's not what mumsnet are fighting about.

PifflinePankhurst · 10/08/2006 17:59

What perplexes me is that anyone could read that (rocket) comment and not think it knicker wettingly funny. Or at the very least if you think it was in bad taste a wry grin, and the maturity to assess it as a BLOODY joke.

And the book sales are not the whole story
Those of us who condemned the thing - read the book, therefore contributed (regretfully in hindsight) to its sales.

I am unable to be affectionate with my mother, but that makes me want to be closer than close to my kids - every minute of the day and night.

GeorginaA · 10/08/2006 18:02

Totally agree with foxinsocks. Actually I've felt quite upset today with the amount of "babies crying for long time are permanently emotionally scarred" stuff flying around - not least because my youngest had colic and my eldest would only settle WITH a routine and was miserable as hell until we did.

I know logically that we did the right thing at the right time, and my beautiful boys are certainly full of cuddles, love and attachment to both me and dh, but I still feel pretty shit for no reason, tbh.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/08/2006 18:06

Sorry SG

SaintGeorge · 10/08/2006 18:08

Oh FFS.

Yes, to me personally it matters.

If I had known who it was I would have probably said something more direct to them on the board like 'stop pratting around you silly '. As it was I didn't know if it was name changer of a troll - and there have been a few in the last couple of days.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/08/2006 18:13

No, you are right StG, it probably was tasteless (still funny IMO "Nobody straps babies to rockets"....)

You were right to report, I could well have been a troll of the Chris Farley lookalike or otherwise.

Mimitwo, are you okay? You seem a little sensitive today, no offence .

SaintGeorge · 10/08/2006 18:14

{pressed post too soon)

As it is I feel daft for displaying my bruised sense of humour and wasting HQs time.

And I think that is about the last time I am going to bother explaining my actions today.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 10/08/2006 18:15

am i going to get a telling off from mnhq now though??????

Havent had one before...

Sorry MNHQ.....

SaintGeorge · 10/08/2006 18:16

Thank you for not taking offence.

I think HQ will probably look at this thread and roll about laughing to be honest.

foxinsocks · 10/08/2006 18:17

don't feel shit georgina. Everyone knows you are a brill mum and yes, I agree, it has all gone a bit off topic really.

WWWLutherKing · 10/08/2006 18:24

I think the coments at the bottom are more enlightening. Could this be somewhere to air a POV with less fear of reprisals? Can't see the guardian being taken to court, can you?
