Scargill used 'right to buy' in bid to buy London flat

I'm surprised this story hasn't been mentioned here. Actually, I'm not since it's been reported in every paper except the Guardian.

Unbelievable.

Not only did he live rent free for 30 years and the union had no idea, he tried to use Thatcher's flagship council house sale policy to buy the flat he was living in.

I bet all the class warriors must be proud of their hero.

So what. It is not about individual sacrifice.

LibraryBook · 16/01/2014 08:44

That's hilarious. What an awful man.

LibraryBook · 16/01/2014 08:52

Classic left wing hypocrisy.

ajandjjmum · 16/01/2014 08:59

Isn't this the same flat that he sued the NUM about, because years after his retirement they said they would not pay the rent any longer.

In the Barbican?

MrsSippie · 16/01/2014 09:12

Nasty vile worm like scum of a man, just make me shudder, loathsome. < not a fan>

Nancy66 · 16/01/2014 09:48

Yes, it's the same flat there was a court action over. Horrible, greedy man

telsa

So what. It is not about individual sacrifice.

Is there no hypocrisy so big it can't be ignored?

There wasn't any individual sacrifice here. Scargill helped himself to union members money not only to give himself a free house, but also to try and buy the house through a scheme produced by a woman who was his political antithesis.

I wish my Dad was alive to see Scargill being exposed for what he is - and what my Dad always said he was. Sad

Tiredemma · 16/01/2014 11:09

He was a disgrace anyway (and I am a staunch Labour supporter)

niceguy2 · 16/01/2014 12:04

This is old news. Why's it being brought up again?

Thatcher once said that "Socialists are happy until they run out of other people's money"

I guess it's glaringly clear in this case that she was right. Scargill was very happy with the status quo until the NUM realised he was bleeding them dry.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/01/2014 12:08

Horrid, horrid man. Scum of the earth.

telsa are you serious?

Nancy66 · 16/01/2014 12:18

it's in the news as there has been a BBC investigation into the affair

BMW6 · 16/01/2014 18:43

I'll dance a jig when that git dies.

MrsDavidBowie · 16/01/2014 20:13

Horrible man.
Like Bob Crowe, a man who has one stock phrase "sold down the river ".
