Just watched the news and its one child abuse story after another, what with the Philippines and the various trials going on at the moment.

Hope to god that all this focus is because we are living in an age of increased awareness and reporting of such crimes, rather than the crimes becoming more prevalent

A lot of the child abuse investigated is from decades ago so it hardly proves that crimes are becoming more prevalent now.

I have a hunch that it is probably less prevalent now rather than more, but it is not swept under the carpet and tolerated like it used to be.
