My Dp and I were discussing the fact that newspapers have alledged that Heather Mills Mccartney was a hooker. Is there any dIfference between prostitution and using your sexuality to gain an advantage?

I use my sexuality to get an advantage with my husband. I flutter my eyelashes at him (or more) to get my own way.

However, I don't stick cards up in telephone booths advertising £70 a blow job to complete strangers

Have you ever used your sexuality in the past? I'm not talking about sleeping around to get a job, money or whatever.
I know I have. Not directly for money, but to gain an advantage, and I was wondering whether it was a normal thing for women to do. It certainly was donkey's years ago when that's aboubt all women had in the way of power. I mean have you ever compromised youself in that way? Dp and I were discussing whether payment in kind amounts to prostitution. See would you think that the old slapper Madonna had prostituted herself by sleeping with the whole of the record company bosses in order to raise her status as a star?

I was also wondering why it is that it's mostly women who get such a label. Any ideas?

I can talk my husband into most things straight after sex and think I could probably get him to do whatever I asked if he thought he might get lucky but I don't feel like a hooker (although I look like one)

A prostitute is paid to have sex or perform sexual acts. It is a fairly clear definition.

Agree with Bugsy2's definition. And that is what the more scandalous rags are saying about HM, if they are to be believed.

You might all think I'm strange putting this thread up, but this is not the 1st time I've had this discussion and I did want people to share their views. Because I think it might be a little more complicated than it first seems.

In the literal sense, prostitution is as bugsy2 defines it. Any newspaper that uses the term prostitute or hooker should ensure that they have evidence the person in question falls within that literal definition otherwise they are in for a libel action.

In the metophorical sense, the sky's the limit. Yes, it could include using one's attractiveness to gain an advantage say, in career, to get freebies, special treatment. It could include a person selling out their principles for money or advancement.

If I was trying to snare a bloke, then yes, it would make sense to use sexual attractiveness? But not to the extent of making lewd comments or flashing boobs, lol. In a work context, if I wanted to impress in an interview or a meeting, wear sharper suits, higher heels, more make up, I guess.

Oh I might add, I wouldn't see myself as a prostitute for doing that.
