Two boys killed by snake.

Two poor little boys lost their lives. I don't understand how the snake could constrict both boys?

can barely make out the mug?

CajaDeLaMemoria · 06/08/2013 15:07

The mug is...let's say, something you might buy on a tacky hen night.

I think they've tried to crop it out of the picture.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 06/08/2013 15:26

Looking again, the mug has been now edited out completely.

cocolepew · 06/08/2013 15:29

I hadn't thought to question this, but I now see why you would. Tragic either way.

mignonette · 06/08/2013 15:33

If they were suffocated they wouldn't have been able to cry out because they wouldn't have been able to move air over their vocal chords enough to make a sound. Sorry if that is upsetting to read but maybe it sheds some light onto how it might have happened.

RoseFlowerFairy · 06/08/2013 15:33

Oh, they have cropped the picture now. It was a mug that had a cup and a very large life size handle in the shape of a detailed Penis.

phantomnamechanger · 06/08/2013 17:20

There is more to this case than meets the eye, I am sure. Utterly shocked and sad when I heard it this morning but now having read the detail, it's just not adding up at all.

That poor poor mum, RIP gorgeous boys.

dandydorset · 06/08/2013 17:57

CajaDeLaMemoria could of wrote this myself, agree

Nancy66 · 06/08/2013 18:41

Tragic story - but I'd be staggered if it turns out they were killed by a snake and not a human

TheCrackFox · 06/08/2013 19:42

I'm finding this very hard to believe.

OverTheFieldsAndFarAway · 06/08/2013 21:03

This just does not add up.

  1. This was an African Rock Python. In theory it could be up to 20ft in length, a snake of that size would take prey up to the size of a piglet/ large rabbit. Snakes of this size are rarely even found in zoos let alone a pet shop
  1. This snake would only constrict prey within the size range it could comfortably eat.
  1. A snake is not like a fox which would kill indiscriminately, so to kill one little boy and then move on to another makes no sense.
  1. This type of snake would constrict its prey slowly and then remain in that state for possibly several hours before eating.

A pythons bite is not of the stereotypical two fanged type. They have over 100 teeth that are designed to hang on, and they will, for hours.
Recorded cases of child death due to giant snakes in South America (anaconda) involve snakes 30ft in length, an impossible size to even be handled never mind be kept in captivity.

OverTheFieldsAndFarAway · 06/08/2013 21:05

I hope for those lovely little boys parents sake that the truth is found out...quickly.

RhondaJean · 06/08/2013 22:56

Latest reports on NBC are saying the snake was kept in the flat not the shop.

Sadly the snake has been destroyed.

Tiredemma · 07/08/2013 08:16

All very odd.

Poor little boys.
I will be astonished if it turns out to be true they were killed by the snake Sad

Ponders · 07/08/2013 09:53

apparently there are 2 possible reasons for the snake constricting the boys

  1. it fell out of the ventilation pipe in the ceiling & just grabbed on to what it fell on in panic

  2. the boys had been at the pet shop owner's farm during the day & probably smelled of eg goats

I don't think there's any suggestion of foul play, except that the snake should not have been kept in domestic premises

it's very sad

Pixel · 07/08/2013 21:32

I can believe it could fall through the ceiling though, it was a very heavy creature. Obviously it didn't 'punch' its way through as reported but how many times do we hear of people going up in the loft and putting their foot through by accident? A massive snake like that, maybe coiled up would cause a strain on weak plaster. And the ventilation shaft, well it would have made for a small dark space so again, plausible.
Not sure about the rest of the story though, I must admit I didn't question it when I read it earlier but thinking about it now, why was the snake owner's son in another room if it was meant to be a sleepover?

RoseFlowerFairy · 08/08/2013 08:20

There has been another update on the DM site, stating the snake had escaped previously. I still don't think it sounds right.

whodhavethunkit · 14/08/2013 23:47

This has now being treated by police as a possible murder....

Ponders · 15/08/2013 00:32

murder or manslaughter?

deepfriedsage · 15/08/2013 07:47

Have you got a link?
