It's the wettest drought I've ever known! My garden is like a bog.

Look on the bright side - you won't need your hosepipe to water it Wink

True. But if we have a heatwave (I know, stop that laughing!) it'll bake hard because it's clay soil. Then I'll need my hosepipe!

The constant rain, and threat of rain, is causing me to stay inside with dd unless we absolutely have to go out. We're in danger of a serious case of cabin fever, and watching far too much telly (and I'm on here too much! Grin).

Just read in this morning's paper:

Another wet weekend in the wettest May for 23 years coincided with drought restrictions being imposed and water companies being summoned for crisis talks with the Government over continuing shortages. Rain is likely to continue to dampen the Bank Holiday over much of the country today, increasing this month's rainfall, which is already 34 per cent above the May average. This was even though April also had slightly above average rainfall and March had 16 per cent more than usual.

In some parts of the South East groundwater stocks - which provide most of the mains supplies in the region - are said to be lower than before the 1976 drought, and figures suggest that the area has seen the driest 18 months for 74 years.

A huge lake has appeared in the field near us,complete with ducks & geese.Every day it rains,I can't work & I'm getting pretty p**d off with it now.

its ridiculous here, everywhere is waterlogged, it just rains every single day

Today dawned sunny and blustery and despite it being bank holiday, we were all out in the garden pegging out washing! I tried to get my suite covers done, but it kept raining, then stopping, then raining again

DH was very fed up of being sent in and out of the garden to rescue the covers!

We have fields with swans on them - school fields at that - and up until today, our garden was completely waterlogged

I can't understand why there is a shortage
