We know there has been an explosion... It's not been confirmed it was a bomb!

What has actually happened?

Allegedly the was a phone call advising the street bins be checked, and then there was an explosion in a shop called 'marathon' followed by another explosion.

There's been no confirmation that it was a bomb just that there has been an explosion at the end of the Boston marathon.

God horrendous scenes. :(

The BBC and Sky websites are saying two explosions, from within a hotel near the end of the route, 3 hours after the winners have finished. Still many people about and lots of runners too who have been rerouted.

Neither say if it a bombing though, the word explosion only is used.
Likewise they say many injured but do not say about if any fatalities.

BBC is usually best to stick to for facts. Sky often report too soon and get things wrong.

There is also a possible third security alert at another different hotel but this doesn't seem to be confirmed, just reported via BBC news.

The word 'device' has been used on sky.

This just takes me back to the height of the IRA

BBc have referred to a possible report of a security incident at another hotel, which was referred to as a device. But that is not confirmed, and was the only reference to a device on BBC.
