Smarties going natrural!

From next month, Smarties will be made free from any artificial colours, for the first time in thier 69 year history.

Nestle Rowntree 'improving the nutritional quality of products' (as the £3m launch campaign will tell us) or a smart marketing move?

And will they bring back the orange flavoured ones? And two shades of brown?

I'd like to see how they will contend with their notorious Theda Bara bluey!

So that is free from artificial colours, not other addatives or preservatives? In that case I would suggest it is a ploy Grin

Oh no! I am ashamed to say that actually made me smile lol!

RIP the blues Marina. They have admitted they cannot recreate that colour naturally.

...and this 20 years after my sister (one of the first diagnosed E-number sensitive kids) wrote to Nestlé in crayon and asked very politely if they could use natural colours so she could eat them.

I'll be buying her a tube!

Bum now what am I going to give dd at 8pm in the evening of a good 'do' that I don't want to leave?!?!?

fastasleep · 08/05/2006 15:42

What's natrural? Have they devised some kind of smarties tree - are they going to pick them locally?
