NotQuiteCockney · 30/04/2006 19:34

Made me laugh too ... but at the thought of JC in such torment, mostly.

SoupDragon · 30/04/2006 19:34

Like the idea of a lung covered in a veneer of skin :o Sounds like BabyDragon on a bad day and we're taking her to Antigua at the end of July...

"I know full well she wasn’t actually asleep ... every time I went to see Christa I made a point of trailing a rolled up newspaper over the silly woman’s head."

Oh that is wicked, I must remember that one!

madrose · 30/04/2006 23:29

The first laugh I've had all day.

milward · 30/04/2006 23:32

lol - great article

arfy · 30/04/2006 23:34

very funny

will probably now make me have dubious dreams about JC tonight - this keeps happening to me, it's very alarming

jabberwocky · 30/04/2006 23:36

LOL!

chipmonkey · 01/05/2006 00:50

I am clearly the only one who finds this nasty.
But I have had some wine so am maybe taking this Too Seriously.
First of all, yuk to anyone who describes a child as a lung and even jocularly hopes it has drowned.
Secondly, anyone who thinks that the mother is the only one responsible for quieting a screaming child and thinks the father's role in this is a bit of a joke because obviously a father has no role whatsoever in the day-to-day runnings of a family and disappears every day for 18 hours, is making huge assumptions.
Well what do you expect from a guy who talks about cars for a living.
It's probably the wine. In the morning, no doubt I'll see the joke.

chipmonkey · 01/05/2006 01:03

I think the reason I find this nasty is that the first holiday we brought ds1 on was to the Canaries, not exactly a long-haul flight but long enough as it turned out. He had an ear infection and a bad nappy rash. Well, he cried non-stop from take-off to landing and the dirty looks that we got from middle-aged We-only-ever-holidayed-in-Ireland-when-our-kids-were-that-age types had to be seen to be believed.
And I felt like shouting to them, "Times have changed, I work 40 hours a week, I hardly see this little guy, I am not going on holiday without him, it is unfortunate he is not well but dh and I deserve a bit of sunshine, we live in the same country as you and it rains every other day! Remember?"

mumball · 01/05/2006 01:37

Jeremy Clarkson is a wanker (allegedly)

chipmonkey · 01/05/2006 01:46

mumball, PMSL!Grin

threebob · 01/05/2006 03:37

Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

ItalianJob · 01/05/2006 09:01

the man is a tosser, but I agree with Chipmonkey, it really did leave a nasty aftertaste.

ghosty · 01/05/2006 09:10

I liked it - Grin

threebob · 01/05/2006 10:39

Come on - we've all felt like that, maybe pre kids, but we have all felt like that. He was more mean about the dad than the baby.

motherinferior · 01/05/2006 10:41

I thought he was actually getting at the hands-off dad rather a lot.

Moomin · 01/05/2006 10:45

i think the point was that the couple were obviously scoring points off one another. the mum was pretending to be asleep to punish the dad for thinking he could have a golf holiday without his family. i know he's hardly pc but his columns in the ST do make me larf

roisin · 01/05/2006 10:56

ROFL! He really is a very, very funny man Smile
Loved it.
Thanks for posting Twiglett!
