If I remember correctly, he was questioned last year but I thought he wasn't going to be charged with any offences at all - clearly not.

It's just been reported that as of today, he won't be appearing in anymore episodes of Corrie.

Good god.

It feels as though he has been found guilty by jury. Byt he hasnt has he?

I think it's the fact that its the second time and relates to much more recent dates Sad

Whos said hes guilty on here? no one, everyone seems to be saying they are shocked that hes been charged with child abuse and rape. Hes in most peoples living rooms every week, of course people are going to talk about feeling shocked.

No, I mean by the fact that he has been removed from all future episodes.of Corrie. Its like they have decided he is guilty and that is that.

Last time, there were messages of support from his work.

As I understand it, he has been charged following a CPS review of the evidence gathered in the original investigation. I don't believe the charges relate to any more recent allegations. It is good to know that the CPS have continued to look at this but it does seem to have taken them a long time.

Once hes been charged with something so serious its the norm for someone to be suspended from their work, if found innocent he`d be re-instated, but I can understand their taking him off the air, I think thats right for everyone.

Can we stop saying 'people' and start saying men?

This is shocking. I had no idea he'd previously been investigated.

It was briefly in the news. I think it was a teenage girl but, my memory is vague. Well, I hope it all gets sorted once and for all.

I can't imagine any job that involved you working with children not suspending you until after the trial.

I am horrified but not surprised. I wonder why that is?

It's all very Confused. 19 counts?

pariah both cases are vile, though the lost prophets guy takes it to the most sickening degree of all...wasn't he planning to abuse a 1 year old? Depraved .

It's all so depressing, and horrific to think that we're seeing all these media reports about allegations regarding 'celebrities', people we watch and admire.... how many more can there be?

Report
OverlyYappy · 15/02/2013 14:49

I was listening to the Radio and Coronation Street are cutting him out of all scenes until/if this is all cleared up. I didn't know this was the second time he had been suspected of this. Very surprised, no idea why I am surpised but I am.

Wewereherefirst · 15/02/2013 14:49

Tepid It's not just men you know? I wonder how many more cases the CPS are reviewing now. As this was a CPS case review from 2011.

He's accused of doing that, it isn't established fact that he was actually planning it. Ditto Michael Le Vell: he's been charged, not convicted.

He went off screen during the investigations in 2011 (?) and will be off screen again now, according to Granada, until the legal process has run its course. He is vigorously denying the allegations.

There won't be any more information now until it comes to trial. Has anything been said about when that might be?

NotADragonOfSoup · 15/02/2013 16:04

He is vigorously denying the allegations.

This is not directed at any of the accused at all, but does anyone ever hold their hands up and admit it?

Report
runningforme · 15/02/2013 17:18

eldritch ok, accused. But it's the second time, and there are 19 counts

I wouldn't have my kids in the same room as him, convicted or not

NotADragonOfSoup Few put their hands up, but some go quiet.

Report
Booyhoo · 15/02/2013 18:07

scaevola do you mean they stop denying it or they just refuse to say anything?

Report
scaevola · 15/02/2013 18:36

I mean that some make no comment at all, or make a denial in straightforward language, rather than vigorously. Then again, perhaps I shouldn't read too much into it, as it might be down to publicist's advice as much as anything.
