Just seen it on the news. Ballynahinch! Feel shocked. Apparantly the town has only just opened again in the last few moments.

Feel really weird. Wonder if I can find a news link.

yes a check point shooting apparently lots of other arrests - were there any marches planned etc Aero? Very odd after it being so quiet on that front for a while
I hope its no one you know etc Aero :(

Thanks wharfy - yes it is unsettling. At the moment it looks like a joy-riding incident. I reckon my folks would have been caught up in the chaos on their way either to or from church if they went this morning.
Must give them a call and see what they know. The area shown on the news is the road they take into and home from work daily. Really weird seeing home on the news. Sad

No piffle - no marches to speak of at this time of year. I used to live about two minutes walk from where this happened just outside the police station.

Chances are the people driving the car may not be local if they were joyriding, but still it's someone's son, brother etc.

I'm ok ww. There was also a bomb in B'hinch in 1985 and I remember vividly the house shaking with the blast. Thankfully no-one injured that time.

Apparantly my brother and his family were taking the dogs out this morning and they 'met' this BMW on their way heading in the opposite direction. He said they were absolutely flying, and then two police cars came flying shortly afterwards.

Have just phoned home - everyone is shocked, but clearly these people were up to no good. No-one knows why they were shot at though yet. There were six in the car!!

Sorry piffle - I meant no loyalist marches that I know of - think there were republican ones though, but no-where near near B'hinch.

Am sure I'll hear more in due course about what actually happened.

If it was Easter Monday there might have been some parades but not usually on Easter Sunday :(

Aero, glad to hear your folks are safe. The road I live on is a traffic black spot. Wharfrat you might know it, don't want to mention the name of it, but if you drive from yours to B'mena you'd be on it. Anytime an accident is reported on the road I have family members calling me to see if I am safe.

six people in a speeding BMW spells disaster to me.

Aero · 16/04/2006 23:03

It's a wonder they made it as far as B'hinch at that speed. Brother was about 8 miles from where the shooting took place when they 'flew' past him.

Just going to watch the news again before bed.

There was a helicopter hovering when my parents got caught up in the traffic, so they knew there was something wrong.
