I was brought up in the Catholic religion and walked away from it as soon as i could when i left home at 19.
I will never enter a Catholic church again. Told DM that if something happens to me i dont want a Catholic funeral because of the bad history of abuse in the church and the mysogyny.

Too many people use religion to harm people. The problem is the Bible's origional translations are rubbish and modernising and interpreting the content is so challenging, never mind all the scriptures that were chucked.

Good grief, I thought the wholesale abuse of children by the Catholic Church was evil enough, but never imagine they'd castrated children for complaining of abuse. That is horrific.

There aren't really words for what's in the article about the Dutch catholic church are there? Veghel, which is mentioned in it, is just over 2 hours drive from where Mum grew up.

I don't know for definite that JS did actually introduce that law. There's so much on the Internet quoting it, but nowhere can I find a reliable link to confirm it.

Looks like that law was passed Wynken and it did reverse Clayton vs Clayton in such a way that parents who, even exonerated from abuse, but still the court having ruled their child would not be returned to them would no longer be able to publicise what had happened to them. It looks like only authorised members of the press (card-carrying journalists) are now allowed to report from those types of proceedings:

Also the more I read about these repulsive people, the less I am surprised like awful stories like the castrations that took place. A sub-set of the pedophiles are sadists - some like to pretend to themselves the children want their advances and as PIE and others campaign that not all sexual contact from adults to children is unwanted - they are the horrible predatory Humber Humberts of this world who kid themselves for some of the time that if children can be bribed or co-erced into sex it is 'consent' without any regard for the fundamental inequality of the 'relationship' physically, mentally, emotionally, sexually and that everything is set up to benefit the pedophile. This type talk of 'relationships' with children - but as in Lolita - that 'relationship' can only last while the child is between their preferred ages. Once they reach 10 or 15 or whatever is their cut off point for attraction, there is no 'relationship'. However for the sadist sub-set no such self-justifications are necessary. Do what thou will does really seem to be their only motto.

Thatcher had to remove Sir Maurice Oldfield (C - then head of MI6 - chief Spy) form his post and report to House of COmmons that he had lost his vetting on 23 April 1987 -the rumour is this was because journalists got hold of information that he had been abusing boys at Kincora with others in power and clergy etc. Wikipedia doesn't mention this:

The list of questions that people need to start answering is getting longer and longer. I am staggered at how links to paedophilia are emerging across all our major institutions including the Government, Education, NHS, Child Care and Protection Services, the Church, the BBC. It's now about so much more than Savile, it's widespread abuse of vulnerable children and the culture that existed/exists that has enabled this to happen.

I do understand why some people are fed up of hearing about Savile but it is vital this runs its course as our children's children will be at risk if this mess isn't properly unravelled.
