Would you throw an apple core into a hedge?

I've always thought this is OK in the same way as I'd feed veg peelings to our guinea pigs or compost waste food in the garden.

Maybe it isn't.

Panda what's inappropriate about an apple core in a hedge?

Apples grow on trees in hedgerows and those which aren't picked fall down and rot underneath.

What is vermin in a hedge? I'm not talking about decorative hedges around urban gardens but hedgerows alongside country lanes. Surely in the countryside it would be wildlife?

In the countryside if it's not someone else's hedge ok but not in urban areas.

Barking mad. I'd send the court a picture of the road opposite my house, where there is a large apple tree no one harvests.

Personally, I wouldn't have thrown it out. The fine was presumably for littering and I suspect that no distinction is made as to what type of litter it was or the location.
When those things are taken into account the penalty imposed does appear to be ludicrously excessive.

Startail!

Have you tasted them? If there is a good crop, there's loads you can do with them: jelly, chutney, and CIDER!

NO, but I would throw a mini hedge into a piles of apple cores. On a good day,I just get that Hercules feeling. "Hoy, LGM 6 women waiting to see you. "
"Send 3 of them away, I am still a puritan"

It's almost as mad as this story, where a man is fined for putting litter in a bin.

I would throw an apple core or banana skin out of a car window but only in the countryside, into a hedgerow.

I wouldn't do it if there was another car behind me or coming towards me though as I'd be mortified that they would think I was chucking something non-biodegradable out.
