Very convincing of their innocence iirc?

Thanks for your support over Ian & Angela. We have been advised not to say too much by our legal team, due to the decision still pending on the Appeal.
In court, the CPS still brought up the head injuries angle, simply because they do not have a method by which the salt could have been administered to Christian.
The head injuries (i.e.sub scalp bruising) were covered in great detail at the trial at Worcester(It was a murder charge after all) but were scientifically proved beyond doubt to have occured during the time Christian was already in hospital.
But still the CPS keep trying to stitch Ian & Angela up for a crime that never existed!
I agree- it could happen to anyone, so beware.

TearsBeforeBedtime · 26/03/2006 19:44

Thanks for posting again, Jacie. The Private Eye article that was printed several months ago IIRC was what convinced me that the case wasn't as straightforward as some of the media reports implied.

edam · 26/03/2006 19:57

Hi Jacie I'm another poster who wondered about this conviction. I hope it might help your family to know that there are plenty of people out here who thought there were echoes of other miscarriages of justice in this case.

I really do hope the court of appeal looks at this VERY thoroughly.

After that whole Roy Meadows debacle, I'm even more skeptical of these convictions. I wonder how many people have been imprisoned and/or had their lives and families destroyed based solely on the testimony of these 'experts'. No wonder people are so mistrustful of social workers, health visitors, etc. here.

ItalianJob · 13/04/2006 09:35

agree expat. it seems that a lot of these cases seem to rely on making an enormous leap in logic - this child has a disease we medics can't explain - to therefore the parents must have induced it.

Jacie · 13/04/2006 10:00

Thanks for your messages of support. I am so very happy to have Ian and Angela home, with their convictions quashed.
Although they face the trauma of a re-trial,all the family of both of them have no worries about that whatsoever. With the masses of unused material, and other important evidence, which has come to light since the trial and could not be used at their Appeal, but which CAN and WILL be used at any re-trial,we think they will be completely exonerated.

We also have a wonderful caring legal team, who truly believe in Ian & Ange's innocence-the CPS should be shaking in their shoes!

expatinscotland · 13/04/2006 17:51

here they tried to do a good thing - to be foster parents. they've lost a child i'm sure they cared for very much, and instead of being shown compassion and left in peace to grieve, they've gotten this. it's truly disgusting and soul-destroying.

i wish them all the best.

Jimjamskeepingoffvaxthreads · 14/04/2006 03:22

I thought of you when I heard the news Jacie. Very pleased for you all.

SofiaAmes · 14/04/2006 07:10

Yes, best of luck to all of you. I was always sceptical about their guilt from the very beginning (see earlier mumsnet threads). I know that the papers report things in a very distorted manner, but nothing that I ever read or heard regarding the case against ian and angela seemed to make sense or ring true. And every interaction that I have had with social services in england has only served to convince me further of the general incompetence of the agency and its power to persecute people who don't have children that fit into their ideas of how children should be. (I once had my hv make a point of calling me up to check on my ds because I brought my him (he was 6 or 7 months) to a local paediatric a&e on the same day that one of my neighbors had brought her ds to the same a&e....guess two sick children in one neighborhood going to the same local paediatric a&e is a sure sign of rampant abuse)

expatinscotland · 14/04/2006 08:26

my HV is constantly on my back about our delaying dd2s vaccines. she phoned AGAIN the other day. after i'd written a letter to document our decision - per their request.

i told her to stop harrassing me.

julienetmum · 02/03/2007 13:07

NOT GUILTY

Best of wishes for the future to your family Jacie

Budababe · 02/03/2007 13:12

Just seen this on Sky news and remembered that I though Ian's mother had posted in here.

Good news!

fryalot · 02/03/2007 13:16

It was always obvious to me that they were totally innocent. So glad that a court has finally seen the light!

JonesTheSteam · 02/03/2007 13:17

Good news.

All the very best to you and your family, Jacie.

Marina · 02/03/2007 13:30

StrawberrySnowflakes · 02/03/2007 19:58

was just about to post a thread on this as saw it on msn..fantastic news

edam · 02/03/2007 23:25

I am very, very pleased for Ian and Angela.

Good God, what does it take for the CPS and the courts to realise that relying on disputed expert witness medical evidence where there is no other evidence that a crime has been comitted is a sure-fire way of committing a miscarriage of justice?

Clarinet60 · 03/03/2007 11:33

Ditto, best wishes to Ian & Angela.

prufrock · 03/03/2007 11:42

I too thought of this thread when I heard the news. I am so pleased that Ian and Angela have finally been proved inocent and hope that they can now move forward from the loss of their foster son and the terrible events afterwards.
