To think this feels a little like blackmail

Sorry for DM link here
Seems to be the poor widow got refund from most places apart from dress marker and photographer.
While I completely understand its awful to lose her husband, these people still need to live. Feels like blackmail to me

I cannot imagine charging someone in those circumstances.

At the very least the suppliers could charge what they actually lost rather than the profit they'd have made.

That poor woman Sad

I feel terribly sorry for the poor women, however she really should have had wedding insurance.

The likihood is the photographer missed loads of other bookings and as the dress maker said it was adjusted for her so little chance of resale.

The photographer I feel could have refunded at least some as he hadn't actually done anything and I assume he was given notice, so could possibly have got a new booking.

The dressmaker however has already put in the work and the materials, she can't get those back. Refunding would be unfair on her.

The photographers costs would have been based on the time he would have spent at the wedding and developing the photos subsequently + of course the materials.

Whilst I appreciate he may have turned down another client I honestly believe in these circumstances I'd have borne the cost. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose and no one lost as much as that poor woman.
