Ian Brady reveals location of Keith's body

Greater Manchester police believe that he has revealed the location to a woman who has been visiting him in Ashworth Hospital:

I didn't realise that Keith's mum is still alive (78 now) and still desperate to be able to bury Keith

Hope they can find him and it's not just Brady messing with everyone again.

My goodness I think it is horrific that he is still allowed to keep torturing that poor woman. I cannot even begin to imagine what she has to go through every time he is allowed to do this again. And the trouble is as a mother who just wants her boy back he knows she'll have to engage every time. My heart goes out to her.

He's been in a hospital all along: I meant of course moved to a different hospital location for treatment.

I noted that the visitor (recipient of the letter?) has been arrested and bailed.

Sky news are saying no one can find the letter the woman's house had been searched

You'd think the police could have authority to open the letter, seeing as its a murder investigation???

I simply cannot believe that he could remember where the body is. It was so long ago and the landscape will have changed in that time. I live in Saddleworth and remember the last time the tents were up as they searched for Keith. I would not be able to pinpoint where those tents were apart from a vague waving of the hand in the general direction.

Poor Winnie. She is seriously ill now.

I'm not sure what I believe regarding any sort of afterlife, but I firmly hope that she will somehow be reunited with her son when she dies.

Brady was admitted to a general hospital about a month ago after a seizure. Fortunately he survived because the hospital he was taken to was the one my mum died in and I wouldn't have wanted that scum dying in the same place

Hope it's true, but I can't see how he can still remember. Hindley couldn't and she was desperate for parole so had every reason to cooperate.

I agree that it is terrible he is allowed to string the family on like this. It does all seen to be a play for power. My thoughts are with the family.

How is one both evil and insane though? Surely evil occurs when one makes a decision to carry out a terrible act in the full knowledge of it's consequences? When that decision is made without empathy for any victim?

He clearly did know what he was doing when he tortured those children because it was very obvious he was getting a thrill from their distress.

fivemonths they managed to find the other bodies using photographs of Hindley and Brady on days out, picnics etc taken after the murders. They would revisit the burial sites, however after examining all of the areas the police were able to identify they couldn't find Keith. I believe that Hindley was taken back to the moors and couldn't identify the area.

Although I'm sure Brady is enjoying leading everyone up the garden path I have no doubt that he knows where Keith was buried. It meant to much to him and he continued to get thrills from revisiting the moors: he knows.

I also think that he has no intention of revealing where it was. He's just playing his usual dick games with that poor mother, making her last days now that she has cancer as stressful as possible.

I live on the moors & know Saddleworth well &,even if he did know once where Keith's body was, it's unlikely to be in the same place. Peat moor is a constantly shifting thing.

I read that when Hindley and Brady were taken back onto the moors in the 80s, Brady found being being out in the open very disorientating and seemed unable to get his bearings at all.
As others have said, the moor has changed over the years, and it has been such a long time.
Worth noting that when Pauline Reade was found, her body was only a few hundred yards from where the other children (John Kilbride and Lesley Anne Downey) had been buried - I wonder if the failure to locate Keith means that he was placed in a different part of the moor and the chances of ever finding him are so small.

Another possibility is that Keith is not on Saddleworth at all. David Smith says that Brady also liked to visit Derbyshire, somewhere near Glossop I think. Therefore a chance Keith could have been buried there somewhere (though unlikely, I think Hindley would have told if she thought it would have helped her case for parole).

Poor Winnie, I would love for her to be able to give Keith a nice funeral and a grave she could visit.

Blowtorch/pliers - should have been used a long time ago. We turn a blind eye to human right abuses around the world and use 3rd party torture but this is an individual who forfeited his rights a long time ago. Nobody shed a tear when Bin Laden got shot and Brady isn't even in the same league. Just a nobody who tortured/murdered children and has lived off the taxpayer for 50 years

Whenever he receives general hospital treatment, he is escorted and treated by a large team of medical staff from Ashworth and whole corridors and wards are closed off.
I hate that money and resources are wasted on this vile creature.
