We are going camping there next week. I'm not sure what to think, really. This man has attacked seven little girls since June, all camping and all in the same region.

I just wondered what people think and whether you'd still go, knowing this Sad Angry

No, don't think I could take a child there! Awful

Olympia2012 · 10/08/2012 22:11

Do you think you will go still?

Theala · 10/08/2012 22:13

i think if you keep your daughter with you,it'll be ok.

I wouldnt go. I couldnt relax anyway and i would deem it too risky.

PetiteRaleuse · 10/08/2012 22:18

Yes, I would still go but keep children under strict supervision. It's a huge manhunt everyone is alert. Just take extra care

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 10/08/2012 22:19

7 attacks?! God no, (unless they were in a tent with adults and a tame grizzly guarding the entrance) but seriously no.

Flimflammery · 10/08/2012 22:19

Can you not transfer to another campsite in a different region?

winnybella · 10/08/2012 22:20

Yes, I would still go. It appears that he is attacking only children sleeping in separate tents and also there is always a risk everywhere iyswim, it's just that you're usually not aware of it. If anything, the publicity will make everyone more vigilant now.

NoComet · 10/08/2012 22:23

Yes I'd go, it's a beautiful place, but I'd take our short range radios and read the riot act at the DDs about staying together.

winnybella · 10/08/2012 22:24

NEWS Ok, just went to Le Figaro website and the guy (well the suspect at the mo) has been arrested.
Apparently there was only one case of the sexual aggression, couple of days ago, and the whole rumour of the 'campsite rapist' is just that, a rumour.

I guess you can relax now Smile

winnybella · 10/08/2012 22:26

Oh, wait, there might have been a few more cases of sexual aggression in the last two months, but the police are not necessarily linking them together or to this guy Hmm

winnybella · 10/08/2012 22:28

I think they are not linking yet as not to rush into declararations, but possible it is the same guy.

slinkyboo · 11/08/2012 09:07

Thanks for replies - I couldn't reply last night as I can't login from my iPad (for some reason).
We are still going, and we wouldn't have the DCs sleeping separately from us anyway. Plus we have our large dog with us!

Horrid people out there Sad

omg I didn't know .My little dns are camping in ardeche at the moment Shock

icecold · 12/08/2012 22:25

What is 'sexual aggression'?

I've not heard that term before

It sound like a term to make rape more acceptable Confused

slinkyboo · 13/08/2012 11:07

I think it's unwanted sexual advances in an aggressive way... Sad Angry

OP posts:
icecold · 13/08/2012 11:14

it seems a really inappropriate term when talking about rape of children

PetiteRaleuse · 13/08/2012 13:12

"Sexual aggression" will be a direct translation from the French press releases - the correct translation is sexual assault, as being a separate crime from rape. Not a term to make rape more acceptable.
