Can't believe that Robert Mugabe has been appointed as a Tourism Ambassador by the UN - was briefly in the Telegraph yesterday, with no explanation, & it's in the Guardian here

What kind of person in the UN thinks that this is a good idea??

You might want to read this story where the UN is quoted as saying "?The receiving of the Open Letter implies no legal commitment or official title attribution to the country or the recipient.? The UN doesn't have ambassadors for tourism and it looks as though an 'acknowledgement' letter has been spun into something bigger.

OK, thnks. Maybe that's it, & lack of concrete info was why the Telegraph & another paper (can't remember which one, I saw it at work) didn't go into more details.
