The ST is running a story/appeal today for babies in Afghanistan.
The story & appeal details are here

I am going to give them something and thought maybe others might like to too. Was going to get dd a babydan playtent for xmas but she doesn't need it and is 15 months old so won't appreciate it, am going to give the money to these poor babies and give dd the smaller bits I have bought her instead.

i am just thining about ds and how without the help he might be badly damaged..it got that bad.
i will be contributing

For me it's just the thought of standing watching your baby die and knowing he/she could be saved by having some milk yet not being able to get any.

i agree CD - its unbeliveable

anais · 30/11/2003 22:15

Thanks for posting this. It kinda puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

Have just donated Countessdracula - that's down to you as I wouldn't have seen it otherwise

suedonim · 01/12/2003 11:59

That sounds so worthwhile, CD, a charity where it's at, and not just a gaping maw, as some of the bigger ones appear to be.

They have similar problems in Indonesia, where the maternal death rate is 35 women per 10,000 and rising. Yet 22 of those women could be saved by a simple course of iron tablets. Cheap, low tech, basic care but they don't have access to it. Makes you want to cry, doesn't it?

CountessDracula · 01/12/2003 12:41

It does Sudeonim. I know there are so many countries in the world where this sort of thing is happening. This one just really got to me
