I think its cos my mum and step dad are getting on a bit on years and the thought of them being treated like that would be totally heartbreaking! I wailed my eyes out for a good half an hour

Thanks Sunflower, I've been on Elderly Parents a couple of times and will be back very soon.
It is a brilliant topic, but my head is all over the place at the moment.

I was not "having a go" Lady beagle ..... as I said I found much needed support on Mumsnet. I am not saying anything untrue about it, just that it has been a shock about the level of swearing etc and wondering if this is an indication of society generally ..... and maybe connecting to other posters here asking what is wrong with a society where many of our older members have to live in such conditions.

I dont know .... is mumsnet a true reflection of society ?

My mum is 84 and I am 55 .... I find this topic frightening too

I can understand that LadyBeagle. As you said up thread- you will be asking questions and looking out for your Mum. It sounds like your sister involved too. Hope you are able to have the time to check homes out. Maybe chat to other residents or visitors if you can. Remember there are positive stories on this thread too.
