Lee Hughes wasn't taken back by his original club, though - WBA terminated his contract when he was convicted. It was a lower league club that offered him a job, at a far lower salary, when he came out.

I know this won't happen but there are plenty of careers which would be ended with a conviction of rape for an employee - does a police officer/teacher/doctor/lawyer/soldier etc. etc. get a 'second chance' at earning their established living if they are convicted of rape? 'Professional footballers' may not be considered actual professionals who sign up to a set code of conduct which would scupper their career if convicted of rape, or any criminal offence, but IMO they should. 'Duty of care' over their conduct given the public nature of the 'job' and influence on children who idolise & look up to them should warrant something that says 'do this & you are finished' in this profession.

But, when it comes to misogyny & vast sums of money? There isn't a hope in hell any governing body involved in football will address this issue. Even the goalkeeper who killed 2 children went back to his job afterwards. If that was me that conviction would mean minimum wage drudgery for the rest of my working life. Not so for these oh-so-speshul 'men'.

Nah..... it's all fine.

He's just a 'naughty boy'

Admittedly a naughty boy who has never said anything to stop his family and fans hounding his victim to the point of being suicidal and having to go into hiding, has never admitted his guilt.

I don't see too many employers taking back a rapist who has been convicted of such a high profile rape, but fuck it, he's a footballer, the rules which are applied to normal humans don't count for him, do they?

He has to sign the sex offender's register, he won't be ale to get a DBS to do anything with any vulnerable people. Ever.
