Wonder what Adele thinks about Karl Lagerfeld - the vicious old queen. What puzzles me is why an industry which is kept going by straight women is dominated by gay men. Time after time when STRAIGHT men are asked what they find attractive in women, it's not the typical catwalk model but a woman who looks like a woman i.e. breasts and hips and who isn't wearing too much make up, not someone who looks like a junkie/anorexic.

She is fat, but she's a lovely looking girl. More importantly, though she isnt a 'moggle', she's an extremely talented singer, so she doesnt have to starve herself to be a size zero.

I don't consider her THAT fat....overweight, certainly. I thought she looked fab during her set at the Royal Albert Hall. She looks like she has dropped a bit since her "chasing pavement" days, imo. Not that it matters. She is a great singer, has a lovely face/hair, dresses well for her shape, so I don't see that it is an ishoo in the least that she's carrying some extra poundage

I'm loathing this pressure on women to look a certain way. If adele has her health then so f'ing what and she looks fairly healthy to me and is a pretty young thin.

I'm too old for all this. I never considered kate moss to be great - unless you're a huge fan of gillian taylforth (or whoever that person from east enders was) but with a crooked nose, no lips, no tits, ringworm light hair and chicken legs etc. But also good on her for making her her millions on hype. Her only saving grace in my view is that she hasn't gone for the orange look.

If that's the epitomy of what I should look like then I'm very glad I don't.

Adele is fat. I would be suprised if she was a 14, as a previous poster suggested. If I was her shape, I would not be happy. However, I would love her hair.

It is irrelevant to her as a person and an artist....but yes, she is overweight. I don't like the word fat though, that is loaded with all kinds of value-judgement. Not a very classy thing to say from someone who ought to know better.

Well actually since none of know her BMI, we don't know if she is overweight.

Carrying a few extra pounds may not count as overweight, although it may count as fat.

Fat isn't necessarily bad though. Our culture has defined fat as being outwith the bounds of beauty, but for most of history, we have defined fat as beautiful.

There is some research that shows that carrying a few extra pounds for women, is actually not a health risk in the same way that it is for men.

Caveat: a few extra pounds is not the same as being morbidly obese though. There's a very large spectrum in between and I would say that Adele is not even in the centre of that spectrum - she really does fall into the "few extra pounds" and she's beautiful. A lot easier on the eye than Mr Lagerfeld.
