Interesting article on 12 teenage schoolgirls that have all come down with a disorder called 'mass hysteria' for no apparent reason. The doctor who is currently treating them talks exclusively to TheWeek.co.uk and gives what he believes is the reason.

Interesting....I remember that when I was about 17, I fainted during a rehearsal in my youth theatre group and over the next few days, around 8 girls also fainted.

It's a funny age that...they're very in toucch with one another and also sensitive.

This happens a lot, and has been going on for years.

Someone I worked with showed a video about Heart surgery, no gory bits, just discussing the issues. She had showed it lots of times before , with no issues. This time 3 pupils fainted and several others felt ill. (Oddly enough someone else fainted in a totally separate class, the first aiders wondered what was going on.)

Mass hysteria in teen girls is well known, though adults can also do it
