here

Mine's still in a cupboard.

Whenever I pick up the detials, all too boring to read and complicated for a non-finance expert like me.

Plus, have a 8 year old with no savings to her name - don't like there being a difference between the 2.

What's your excuse?

if you don't invest if, the govt will do it on your behalf apparently. we started a small fund for dd1, as she was born before the qualifying period. tbh i left all this to dh as it's deadly dull.

Martin, shrill-voiced Money Saving Expert Man says Yorkshire Bank. Can do it now because someone (Him) has made teh decision for me.

I opened mine with Asda as they give you a gift card.

coppertop · 17/01/2006 13:30

Think ds2's has probably expired by now. I can't even remeber where I put the damn thing.

Kittypickle · 17/01/2006 13:31

Tried to cash it this week as it was about to expire but can't find it. I rang them feeling like a naughty schoolgirl and was nicely told that they would now do it for me and send me the details within 8 weeks.

Fimbo · 17/01/2006 13:32

Asda

Tinker · 17/01/2006 13:32

I know but still A Decision. Can't do them.

Went to Abbey fairly soon after I got the thing (I lose everything including DD's birth certificate ), and paid it into a CTF savings account, as it was about the only one that didn't involve shares of any sort. Not touched said account since, and don't plan to.

Can't do anything with ours as we live in France, although we lived in England until 18 months ago. Will have to move back to UK in order to cash it. Think it's very silly not to let them put it into an account you already have for your child. I wouldn't fancy 2 accounts which is what I'd have to have. Too complicated.

MarsOnLife · 17/01/2006 13:37

They've been invested with F & C.

spursmum · 17/01/2006 13:39

Didn't get one as ds was born in March 2002.
Started a trust fund for him myself.

zephyrcat · 17/01/2006 13:39

I found mine for ds in the back of the cupboard yesterday!! I haven't looked at it though to check the 'expiry' date. Still don't know what to do with it though lol

alexsmum · 17/01/2006 13:40

we put ours in the nationwide share one. thought it had more chance of increasing value that way.

ds1 who doesn't have a voucher cos too old has way more money in account than ds2, as he has a godfather who wops a few hundred in his acount every birthday.

edam · 17/01/2006 13:40

Guilty for same reason as Tinker (well, the first one about it being too complicated). From what I know about the finance industry it's pretty much designed to rip you off - endowments, personal pensions, etc. etc. etc. so I have no idea how to deal with them to avoid falling into this trap again.

Kelly1978 · 17/01/2006 13:40

asda, and got £30 of vouchers. WHich I spent on food shopping.

Gingerbear · 17/01/2006 13:41

Hate stockmarket investments- bleedin endowment is shoite, and I had a wad of compensation for a crappy personal savings plan recommended to me by 'Del Boy' financial advisor.

However, have dropped on lucky with Sharesave schemes - no fail method of saving, and have made hefty profits due to DH working for well performing company.

No CTF though as DD born before Sept 2002.

Enid · 17/01/2006 13:41

i have the same as cod

the share one

dithered for ages then just did it
