What did Simon Hughes do?? I recall the election but don't remember any stooshies.

I've encountered him, too, and was favourably impressed. It's probably not worth adding me to your massive email list, though, Marina - I don't care that much

I've actually forgotten what he did that annoyed me so much.

I just retain the annoyance, without any memory of the cause!

Spidermama · 07/01/2006 21:02

Me too Caligula. I remember really liking him in the eighties and connecting with him, then being suddenly alienated by him. Can't remember how it happened. Someone mentioned a Peter Tatchell incident. Perhaps that was it. Like you I retain the annoyance despite having lost touch with the cause.

I bet his advisors suggested now would be a good time to come out given that half the country has given up alcohol for January and is finding it bloody hard.

Caligula · 07/01/2006 21:08

That's quite an interesting lesson for politicians, marketers, etc. isn't it? I hate Dixon's as well, for something they did 20 years ago, the details of which I can't remember. But I refuse to buy any electrical good there ever because of it.

A customer/ voter lost forever...

LOL at the idea of all those new year's resolutions going up in smoke.

"Move over Charles Kennedy" I thought, as I bought a bottle of wine in Morrisons today. (Haven't opened it yet though, I'm thinking about it. So much for giving up alcohol for January - it's only day 7. )

If I lend my support to Ming Campbell does that make me a Minger?
