Anyone else watching Hugh Grant at the Leveson inquiry?

He's just referred to a conversation he'd had with one of the lawyers earlier as being "back stage". Bless him, he's such a luvvie!

The Dowlers I have huge sympathy for but can't quite bring myself to get on board with Hugh's right to be left alone to shag hookers/escorts/massage girls in peace....

I thought everyone on the thread would be talking about him sticking it to the Mail, rather than fancying him . Will the Mail counter-sue I wonder or just issue a general refutation? I'd like to see that mysogynistic, misanthropic rag taken down, I must admit.

I can't see the Mail taking it to court tbh... Too much scrutiny on their practices surely? They have an awful lot of skeletons in their closet. You never know though... They might think they're in with a chance against him. It's a risky chance though.

Interesting..the Mail has indeed issued a "strong" denial;

"The Mail on Sunday utterly refutes Hugh Grant?s claim that they got any story as a result of phone hacking.
In fact, in the case of the story Mr Grant refers to, the information came from a freelance journalist who had been told by a source who was regularly speaking to Jemima Khan.
Mr Grant?s allegations are mendacious smears driven by his hatred of the media."

And Jemima Khan says the following;

"The "source" close to me must be psychic.The MoS claim that he/she gave them a story I knew nothing about till it was in the paper."

"My favourite Daily Mail story was the one corroborated by fabricated "friends" all with ridiculous Jilly Cooper double barrelled surnames."

I'd bet my boots the Mail won't dare take this any further.

Watching again this morning - the lawyers seem to be doing much more work than they did yesterday afternoon.

I couldn't see the fawning barrister, only Hugh, being the character from all the films he has ever been in.

reading the Guardian blog here - was feeling sad for Mary-Ellen Field but thw Watson - my goodness, how awful for them!
