This now makes 14 million recalled for various safety issues...why do we allow them on our roads?

Aren't you the scaremonger person that wanted us to believe all Japanese ('Jap' I think you called them) cars were radioactive? Ideally, faults shouldn't happen but at least if cars or any other goods are recalled, then the manufacturer is acting responsibly.

They are only acting responsibly this time because the authorities dragged them in kicking and screaming, fined them 16 million and threatened that should they ever again withold vital safety reports their own dealers were telling them about they would take the cars off the road full stop>

I can't find details of the UK recall, but this site says up to 14,000 cars in UK might be affected.

Whatever one thinks of the company, it might be worth bumping this thread from time to time today, so any Toyota-owning MNetters know to check if their model is affected.

Coming on top of other recalls, this is clearly bad news for the company's reputation.

Well, the link I've found says that there have been no reports of accidents or injuries caused by this issue, so I don't think there's any need to have a scare-mongering thread about Toyota Hmm

Evening bump - to spread the word amongst Toyota owners to look out to see if they're affected.
