What if the child doesn't WANT to be chronicled through childhood, off to college and into independent life?

You just can't use another human being in this way. It's wrong. Your baby isn't your bloody property ffs.

I'd seen an article mentioned on here before about the giving birth part - which I think is daft but up to her IYSWIM.

But raising a child - to college etc - as "art" is a bloody cheek. It's not just her life so not just her choice. Children aren't just extensions of their mother, and have a right to make their own choices about things as they get old enough to understand and have an opinion. And you ought to treat them that way even before they are old enough to understand and have opinions, on the basis that its still their life not yours.

I'm reserving judgement for those paying good money to watch this one-woman Truman Show... Does she have a concurrent exhibition on Drying Paint?

Re: raising the child 'as performance art', I think this says it all:

A bit like couples who get companies to subsidise their weddings (in the USA, do they do that here?) she is going to try to get financial support for raising her baby by framing it as art -- unbelievable! I wonder what the 'objects' will be that will be up for auction in the future (dirty nappies, used toys, the child's drawings as artworks themselves)
