I am disgusted at the BBC for using image of dead Colonel Gadaffi as it's leading image on the BBC News homepage.

I had thought of the BBC site as a family friendly place but now I know better.

I'm not concerned because I'm personally that squeamish. I am concerned because it was way, way to graphic for the tea time news.

If the Hallowe'en items were showing actual footage of real people being killed or real bloody corpses, then yes I'd object to that too. And the zombies at 6pm too (most films are 18s) - if there is going to be a watershed it should have real meaning and be abided by.

I don't think that pictures of the lynching needed to be shown at all. But if they are to be broadcast, their content is definitely adult (that is a trophy video of a real person being killed by a mob), it should be post-watershed.

That horrible film is no less than a snuff movie, absolutely revolting. Fighting violence with even more violence. Where on earth will this end?! I certainly don't want my children to feel anaesthetised to this sort of horror "because he deserved it!". The gruesome indulgent sensationalist pictures of his death are getting worse every day. No one should want to watch a human being be battered, sodomised with a knife and shot in the head even if he was wicked. It's not hiding away from reality it's making a stand and saying this sort of reality is just down right wrong and disgusting!

What mimosa21 said (and WTF to the knife thing, really? It's even worse than I thought)

I remember seeing this on the news. There was video with the air traffic controller's audio, including the statement "he's lost an engine".
