meditrina, the comparison I made was because I see very little difference between an unfertilised egg "wanting to be alive" and a fertilised egg. I know that there are people who see a huge difference in those two things but I just see a slightly larger bundle of cells. We are talking about personhood from the moment of conception so before there is a hint of viability or, in fact, any brain, heart, nervous system. I apologise if I was reducing ad absurdum.

However, I believe this is an emotional subject. Emotive language and false comparisons do not help in any debate at any time. I think you are wrong. False comparisons may not help but using emotive language to describe emotions can be helpful.
