A question I have asked many friends would you rather be the parent of the murdered or the murderer?

Murderer.

Murderer

because at least then my child would be alive.

god, what an awful thing to find myself contemplating!

I agree with NotSuch - the murderer.

As painful as it would be to know my child had killed someone, it would be a million times more painful for them to be dead.

Too awful to contemplate. Sophie's Choice - can't do it.

I cannot answer my own question, either would devastate me.
