I know there are threads flying about all over the place re; the strike, but this is purely to register support - it would be great if we could keep it going until midnight on Thursday ( 30th June )

you don't have to say anything - just smile, like this Smile

My son's maths teacher is the only teacher striking in his year, poor (brave) sod. I'd rather DS missed a day's school for this than for the Day of Pippa Middleton's Arse.

Totally support the strike Smile.

DYA; yes, it's not all teaching unions who are out. The teachers I know are in NASUWT so aren't striking ( yet ) -
If this dispute continues they will do though.

Smile Good luck to all those striking. It's a shame that it has come so far, but I think byGove deserves everything he gets.

Gove's own council opposes using parents to break the strike.

Smile non- striking teacher here but only because I'm on maternity leave and in the NASUWT, but thanks for a friendly teacher thread for a change.

Solidarity · 29/06/2011 17:34

I'll never understand the teacher bashing you get on here ( lazy/greedy etc )
It's a highly skilled, stressful, demanding job - and not brilliantly paid.
I can't understand why any parent wouldn't support them every step of the way - teachers are an extremely important part of our childrens lives, and I know from experience how inspirational they can be.

And it's a profession that employs 1000's of women.

We must support them.
