What sort of person can murder a baby while they sleep and what sort of people consider this something worth celebrating?

What a horrible thread title!

I havent even clicked the links.

MillsAndDoom · 13/03/2011 16:43

OMG that is horrific and I could only bring myself to read part way through

comewhinewithme · 13/03/2011 16:47

Jesus ...nice thread title :(.

FlamingoBingo · 13/03/2011 16:53

Was there a need to make the thread title so vile and distressing. Sad Angry

tonythetyger · 13/03/2011 16:55

What would you suggest as an alternative? The act itself is vile and very distressing.

Northernlurker · 13/03/2011 17:10

Come on people - you're talking about a part of our planet where there is such hatred between people that the murder of children is glorified - and you want to object to a thread title in the news section? Priorities need adjustng!!!

southeastastra · 13/03/2011 17:14

everything there is fucked up in the extreme

meditrina · 13/03/2011 17:15

The thread title is inaccurate: a whole family was killed in a house invasion - singling out the baby (in a parenting site) is a misjudgement.

EdwardorEricCantdecide · 13/03/2011 17:25

I read entire article and didn't see anything about killer celebrating?!
But truly horrific story!
Sad

Northernlurker · 13/03/2011 17:29

I believe that generally attacks on Israelis are celebrated by members of the Palestinian community. That goes both ways though attacks on Palestinian children are not greeted with dismay in Israel.

tonythetyger · 13/03/2011 17:32

They don't hand out sweets and hold street parties when it happens. Nor do Israelis break into Palestinian homes in the middle of the night and murder children in their beds.

meditrina · 13/03/2011 17:33

Far too many people have died.

The UN has been expressing the will of the international community in many, many resolutions since 1967, yet still Israel continues its illegal occupation.

Snorbs · 13/03/2011 17:43

YNetNews is a fanatically pro-Israeli, rabidly pro-settlement and deeply racist anti-Palestinian website. Have a look at the comments on those stories - they make the Daily Mail readership look balanced and sane.

Just because YNetNews reports Palestinians as celebrating this crime it does not mean it actually happened.

MrsChufftheMuff · 13/03/2011 17:44

what would you call the missile attacks then? tonythetiger

Clearly you have a bias here.

The killers have not been caught. We do not know, for sure, if they are israeli or palestinian. Does it matter? Killing over religion and land is so ludicrously wrong, with so many atrocities on both sides, I think it hardly matters.

meditrina · 13/03/2011 17:46

Just came back in order to hide the thread:

Tonythetyger: that is because Palestinians are not illegally occupying Israeli territory.

I do not agree with violence. If Israel wants this to end, the answer is in its own hands - to comply with UN Resolutions and end the illegal occupation.

tonythetyger · 13/03/2011 17:54

Missile attacks take place continually from Gaza and Lebanon on Israel.

However, throwing a missile and murdering someone in front of you are two different acts.

Meditrina - these acts have taken place all over Israel and prior to 1967 too. Giving Gaza to the Palestinians didn't stop attacks and in fact increased the violence. Why should it all be so easily resolved by returning other bits of land?

"OK, so I stole £1,000 from you. It only took me twenty five years to give you £200 back! Yeah yeah, since then I've stolen another £500 from you and have treated you like a dog ever since but you're still pissed off with me? There's no pleasing some people. Why should it all be so easily resolved by returning all the money I've stolen if you're not satisfied by the £200 I've given you so far?"

A note on occupied territories - Gaza belonged to Egypt. Egypt has never asked for it back. The West Bank belonged to Jordan. Jordan has not asked for it back. Israel and Jordan are officially at peace with each other.

Yes, actions on both sides antagonise situations but it's hard enough for people to change the way they are, never mind entire nations changing their mindset. There are always crazies in all sectors of society but specifically and cold-heartedly stabbing a 3 month old baby as it sleeps in its cot, brings me to tears.

pecanpie · 13/03/2011 19:58

and smallwhitecat I don't know what sort of Israelis you know, but the Israelis I know don't think like that and it's certainly not the Jewish response. Any untimely death is a tragedy. Those crazies on all sides in my last post - perhaps they are the Israelis you know.

Passover is approaching and you're probably familiar with the story - the Israelites were slaves in Egypt and Pharoh wouldn't free them. G-d punished Pharoh and the Egyptians with the 10 plagues. Thousands of years later, this is still marked with respect for those who died, by spilling a drop of wine for each plague at the 'seder' where we commemorate the exodus from Egypt.

pecanpie · 13/03/2011 20:15

For a left wing Israeli perspective read www.haaretz.com which is well balanced, for example
'Settlements can't defend themselves alone. They help perpetuate hostility. Nor will the dispute vanish if the settlements are removed, unless mutual efforts are made to bring the violence to an end.'

The report on the tragic story from my more balanced source is pretty equal to tony's Ynet article

LadyBiscuit · 13/03/2011 20:21

What happened is a terrible, terrible atrocity. It is unforgiveable.

That does not take away from the fact that Israeli families are illegally occupying Palestinian territory and that were they to fuck off back to their much bigger piece of land, none of this sort of stuff would ever happen.

fastedwina · 13/03/2011 23:47

no excuse for this kind of violence on babies/children but these settlers know exactly what they are doing and are quite happy to use their families to spread hate and antagonise those around them who have no where else to go. I would hope that no-one could be happy about the horrible deaths of these poor children.

donnie · 14/03/2011 14:38

what LadyBiscuit said - exactly right.
