Is it just me or are the media still desperate to dramatise this rather than report it?

She's already had a horrible time at the hands of the Aussie press. How much to you think their speculation has affected her public perception here?

OP posts:
compo · 20/10/2005 12:36

I think all along she has had a rough ride and only ever been treated with suspicion. I don't think it was ever necessary to report that she was seeing someone else whilst travelling with her boyfriend. It had no relevance to the horrendous thing that happened to her.

noddyholder · 20/10/2005 12:36

I don't know why they treat her with such suspicion etc I think because she is an attractive young woman they have really picked on her and several reports imply that she may have had something to do with it

elitemeetupCOD · 20/10/2005 12:38

saw a really good prog ont his on channle 5 once
there is somehting fishy about all of it

5 hours in a bush in minus temps.....

elitemeetupCOD · 20/10/2005 12:38

she also refused to do the press conf when arrived at wherever until shed had her hair done

flamebat · 20/10/2005 12:40

Their speculation has made me think something is slightly off.... like that report of the guy breaking in during a sleepover...

coppertop · 20/10/2005 12:41

I don't know why but something about her story just didn't ring true IMHO. Nothing whatsoever to do with her seeing someone else. It will be interesting to see how the court case goes.

elitemeetupCOD · 20/10/2005 12:41

and her eyebrowsa re alarming

nutcackle · 20/10/2005 12:44

Have always thought that there is something not quite right about that story.

northerner · 20/10/2005 12:44

Hmmm. I agree, I smell a rat too. Something in the docvumentary about having her hands tied in a certain way and she she managed to get out but it would be pretty impossible I beleive.

They've never found his body have they?

teeavee · 20/10/2005 12:45

if I had to face the world's media I would want to have my hair done too!

compo · 20/10/2005 12:49

Perhaps we all think it seems a bit suspicious from the way they report it though? And they must have arested that man for some reason? Or perhaps they think she was in cahoots with him?

elitemeetupCOD · 20/10/2005 12:50

she has eyebrows that immediately render her suceptibel to arrest

northerner · 20/10/2005 12:50

Is she preggars?

Aero · 20/10/2005 12:53

Agree too, but can't put my finger on what it is that isn't sitting right with me.

nutcackle · 20/10/2005 12:54

She always looks like she is really enjoying the attention too

JanH · 20/10/2005 12:56

When she flagged down the lorry they had to cut her out of the things round her wrists - she couldn't have done that by herself.

And look at the way they demonised Lindy Chamberlain.

Transcript of ABC report here .

Comment on the way she is reported

And lots of other links

bundle · 20/10/2005 12:58

so. some tips please on how one should behave if a partner is shot dead and you are kidnapped. just so the press won't demonise me..

JonesTheSteam · 20/10/2005 13:00

northerner - I always wondered about the way she managed to get her hands from behind her to the front as well - but apparently she demonstrated it in court and did it in seconds!!!

link

OrribleOliveoil · 20/10/2005 13:01

I was in Australia when this happened and was told I would need a gun 'just to be on the safe side' to travel around from over dramatic aussies.

Agree with bundle, how are you supposed to react when your partner has been shot dead, you are bound and gagged and have hidden in a bush thinking you are about to die? Do they do a course on correct behaviour?

JonesTheSteam · 20/10/2005 13:01

Personally I think the fact that she has stuck to her story so steadfastly over the years shows that she must be telling the truth - surely she would have slipped up by now if she were the guilty party.

I think the press think it's a 'better' story if she had killed him.

JanH · 20/10/2005 13:13

From the report in the Guardian today:

elitemeetupCOD · 20/10/2005 13:14

she impregnated ehrself on purpose afte r aone night stsnd wiht him thew week before ( says cod threashign aroun d wildly)

bundle · 20/10/2005 13:17

eh?

flamebat · 20/10/2005 13:18

To me it just felt wrong - no facts or reasons behind it. But then Sarah Payne felt wrong too... no idea why

elitemeetupCOD · 20/10/2005 13:20
