spent her third birthday without either of her parents present.

Kate Moss in rehab, Jefferson Hack apparently at Milan menswear show.

For the little girl's sake I really hope they get their (parenting) act together soon.

Poor little lamb

paolosgirl · 02/10/2005 12:06

I read this - it is so, so sad. I wonder what Kate and Jefferson (although I don't know what the visitation rights are there) will think in 20 years time about missing their daughter's 3rd birthday. The nanny must be more of a mum to Lila that Kate is

highlander · 02/10/2005 12:06

oh that's horrible At that age they start to know what birthdays are all about don't they?

Twiglett · 02/10/2005 12:06

and that's a role model mother ...

Twiglett · 02/10/2005 12:07

however I bet she had a lovely birthday with her primary carer who will know doubt love her to death .. just a shame it isn't her actual parent

Caligula · 02/10/2005 12:08

Wonder if they'll be around in 20 years time to think about it?

aloha · 02/10/2005 12:26

i think km is pretty appalling in all kinds of ways, but if she is remotely serious about rehab (if) then that is much more important for Lila than being there for her birthday. and the milan shows are hugely important if you are in Hack's line of wirh - probably single most important event of his wrking year and almost totally non-negotiable. My ds would have had no idea if we;d celebrated his birthday a few days, a week or even a month or more later. they have little idea idea of time and dates. maybe she's with grandparents.

Pinotmum · 02/10/2005 12:29

It was my ds's 3rd birthday yesterday and his father flew out to South Carolina for golf! We celebrated the evening before with cake and candles and ds really didn't care so long as he got Happy Birthday sang to him and pressies, cards and badges with 3 on them. I'm sure Lila had a lovely day regardless.

flamebat · 02/10/2005 13:41

I agree with Aloha - if she is really trying, then I would rather her be in rehab for her daughter's birthday, than there and either suffering from withdrawal, or high. Imagine in the said 20 years "For my third birthday, my mummy decided that both our lives were worth more than drugs, and started to rebuild them for us".

Daddy hasn't been about that much in general has he? No different from most divorced parents - not seeing daddy on your actual birthday.

LIZS · 02/10/2005 14:12

I suspect it isn't that unusual and that too much is being read into it tbh.

I thought it was slightly odd that the formal party took place without either present. Perhaps they could have found an alternative day to celebrate it when her dad could be there or maybe he has some other treat lined up, who knows, but plenty of other dads don't attend every birthday party for many reasons.

Most years a birthday would fall within the working week so those children at school or at nursery would probably spend much of the day without a parent present anyway. I also know of other parents who have been away working when it is their child's actual b'day and they don't get criticised for it, it is just accepted. Not sure a 3 year old would realise anything was amiss anyway as long as there was plenty going on and familiar faces.

doormat · 02/10/2005 14:55

apparently she went into rehab the day before her birthday
imo she is only going to rehab to salvage her career
would waiting a couple of days really mattered?

not a fan of km really but find the intensity of moss-bashing on here a bit weird. does anyone really know anything about her other than what the papers say?

weesaidie · 02/10/2005 16:46

I'm sorry but I think that is terrible.

mrsmoons · 02/10/2005 16:55

Why can't we Moss-bash? She is famous for being a clothes-horse; nothing more. if you don't want to be scrutinised by the public, then lay low, don't date high-profile people, don't take drugs/get drunk etc in public and don't publicise when and where you check into rehab. There are many 'famouse' people who don't attract our criticism etc but they don't court attention. Sorry Docket, not an attack on you, just my twopenceworth

JELLYJELLY · 02/10/2005 17:29

Saw on one of the glossies that her nose is caving in because of the coke.

docket · 02/10/2005 17:53

I'm not saying that I admire her or that her behaviour isn't poor. But I think the media have made her a scapegoat whilst relishing the opportunity to put her on the cover and sell more papers. And I don't think 'Heat' saying her nose is caving in necessarily means it is.

spacecadet · 02/10/2005 17:54

god thats so sad..poor little girl.

Earlybird · 02/10/2005 18:13

NME online reporting that it is believed that Pete Doherty was arrested last night in Shrewsbury after a show. He was charged with possessing Class A drugs. I'm crap at links, but you can see the story if you cut/paste.

Are we really making Kate a scapegoat??? This is the man who's been her constant companion....

SherlockLGJ · 02/10/2005 18:15

What a shambles

docket · 02/10/2005 19:38

I think people are making her a scapegoat, yes. That isn't to say that she's blameless, just that I do think there's a sense of people (that's the media, mainly) pulling her down when plenty of them are shoving half of Columbia up their noses while they're doing it. This is a site for mums so of course everyone is going to feel protective of the daughter and rightly so. All I'm saying is that most of the damning information used to slag her off comes from the media and their main concern is flogging product.

Enid · 02/10/2005 19:58
