Glad I am not the only one who think Beckham did well yesterday

I do think he is gorgeous!

OP posts:
RunforFun · 02/12/2010 13:45

He is very beautiful.

I met him in M&S once and he is just as beautiful in real life.

I like his look (voice ... well lets just leave it ) he's definitely maturing well like a good wine ... and nothing like DH !!

Lizzylou · 02/12/2010 13:46

But it's not just about him being a celebrity, he was such a passionate England player, you only had to watch him during the world cup this summer (looking gorgeous in a suit) to see how much he wanted England to win.

He was a great player as well, penalty misses or no.

Porto, I have touched him also, he signed the back of my Wedding dress receipt.

noddyholder · 02/12/2010 13:48

Wayne rooney would do nothing for our bid he didn't exactly excel himself at the world cup on or off the pitch.David is a recognsable iconic footballer and I don't think we could send anyone better. loving his hair (shallow emoticon)

LivinInThe80s · 02/12/2010 13:50

methinks he's had a bit of botox lately, but his speech was good. I was surprised by how much taller prince william was when they were all standing together. never really thought of him as tall!

traceybath · 02/12/2010 13:50

Lizzy - I just read that as he signed the back of your wedding dress Grin

God he's gorgeous and well known all over the world - rather him than John Terry for sure.

SantasMooningArse · 02/12/2010 13:51

Doesn;t do it for me at all. Glad he is on the bid team (actually no interst at all in bid but YKWIM: best man for the job and all that).

But I find him less attractive as I age and he did nowt for me before, much like Brad Pitt or anyone else. Increasingly I find I go for either people i click with regardless of looks, or a bit of muscle (as opposed to teh pre-DH habit of sympathy crushes- oh they were, they really were!)

Lizzylou · 02/12/2010 13:52

Do you know, when they next have that "What are you passionate about" thread on MN, I think I may have my answer Xmas Grin

He is just beautiful.

LivinInThe80s · 02/12/2010 13:54

I think he@s a great ambassador for the sport, can't think of any other footballers who could do that. He's bound to get a knighthood if we win, then vicky can be Lady V Xmas Smile

KangarooCaught · 02/12/2010 13:55

Don't like pretty men but he is lovely to look at am very impressed with his participation in the bid - big press attitude change.

Limez · 02/12/2010 13:57

Ryoko you're being silly.

He was winning young player of the year, UEFA player of the year and runner-up in FIFA world player of the year in the nineties - long before the hype kicked in.

He was an integral part of the huge successes at Manchester United while he was there.

He's not the best player the world has ever seen but has had fantastic successes and I think you're falling for the media build em up, knock em down rubbish.

You sound like my mum. She knows sod all about football but loves a bit of media muck-spreading.

pagwatch · 02/12/2010 14:07

Anyone who would pick Rooney on a schmoozing exercise would be a daft

" come here mr voting delegate, come sit with mr beckham and let him chat with you in all his charming polite and self deprecating loveliness. His wife may give your wife one of her couture dresses "

Oh ok

" come here mr voting delegate and chat a while with barely coherent, miserable, greedy, thug like mr rooney. Oh and here is colleen with her littlewoods catalogue"

Errrr...

Ryoko · 02/12/2010 14:10

But that was then, there are people doing good now, top of the game now.

LilyBolero · 02/12/2010 14:11

He is a great ambassador, does a lot with helping kids along, and he looks hot in a suit!

Lizzylou · 02/12/2010 14:11

Who Ryoko?
Which current England player has Beckham's success, talent, fame, respect and ability to string a sentence together?

Grin Pag.

Cyb · 02/12/2010 14:13

He is THE most beautiful man in the world EVER and if he ever comes a knockin, he's the only man I'm ever allowed to run off with

(Dh's woman is penelope Cruz)

Cyb · 02/12/2010 14:14

He is my screen saver too

Ryoko · 02/12/2010 14:22

Well when he started getting all the attention I didn't know why he was getting it over alan shearer, apart from the fact he was going out with a Spice Girl.

I still think Shearer would have been better.

noddyholder · 02/12/2010 14:23

Ryoko you will never convince us Grin

Limez · 02/12/2010 14:24

Ryoko - so you're not sticking by your assertion that he's a 'loser' who 'can't play football'?

Lizzylou · 02/12/2010 15:45

Ryoko, I don't understand your argument, if Beckham is not current, then Shearer is positively ancient.

You obviously don't like Beckham, but at least be consistent.

The reason why Becks gets so much attention is because he is gorgeous and highly marketable, good on the bid team for capitalising on that.

Portofino · 02/12/2010 19:19

Beckham was a fantastic, extremely talented footballer. I challenge anyone who says he wasn't to a dual! Grin

YuleBeLucky · 02/12/2010 19:20

I admire him as a football payer and he seems like quite a sweet bloke. I have never fancied him, though.

I don't think he has aged well. His hair is awful at the moment and his face looks drawn. And that silly voice?! I wouldn't look at him twice if he wasn't a famous football player and passed me in the street

YuleBeLucky · 02/12/2010 19:21

player

KayHarker · 02/12/2010 20:08

There's a reason why the film is called Bend It Like Beckham, and it's got nowt to do with slebritee. The man had skillz. Word.

Grin

He's a fine specimen too, though.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 02/12/2010 20:14

I have fancied David Beckham for years

I get the piss taken out of me at work badly

I don't give a shit what penalties he has missed/the fact he seems a bit fick

I would shag the arse off him, make no mistake...he is my free pass

Actually, I have two free passes. The other is Brad Pitt (another Marmite bloke)
