Two days ago the government announced the scrapping of the four emergency tugs available to help in marine and environmental incidents.

Today they had to use one of the tugs to tow HMS Astute off the silt where she was grounded.

DH reckons its deliberate to prove a point that they need them.

It did cross my mind...

But then they do. I could see a commercial venture taking on the channel - but who else is going to sit a big tug in Stornoway (or the Clyde)? How could it possibly be commercially viable?
